Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alexa to LMS

2019-07-09 Thread bc-nero

I would like to distribute the sound of Alexa over LMS to the players.
But if there is a solution here that can be used to control the LMS by
voice, then of course that would be even better. But with step 1 I would
be very satisfied!

Fair enoughthanks. Out of interest, who developed/maintains the LMS
Tidal plugin? Is it one of yours?

Yes, it is Logitech's.

I have to say, I really appreciate
all the work people do to keep this a viable system - I plan to start
looking at contributing more, so would love to have a look at the code
if its available, even just to see what's involved.

The plugin as you can find it in LMS doesn't implement much of the
functionality. Most is implemented on mysqueezebox.com - for which the
code is not available. There are NDAs for most music services.

It doesn't imply anything but "it's software - anything can be done"

It would be a very useful feature... I personally quite often add
something in the mobile app, but then have to consult the app to
remember what it was and manually find it again once I get home!

I think you describe what you want/need rather than asking for a
solution you think might work.

Since LMS can play any station Alexa can play.
Do you really want Alexa control of an SB player ?
or
Do you want to hear Alexa response etc through your LMS system (e.g.
synced through many SB players) ?
or
something else

I was not successful in trying to reproduce your problem. I asked in the
dev subforum and Michael suspects network issues or transcoding delays
as causes.
You tried it with regular mp3 files, right? If yes did you change the
servers transcoding or bitrate limiting settings?

Anyway: If the playback really starts immediately after you press "play"
then i doubt that this is caused by network issues or the delay caused
by transcoding.

I added an additional timer. This retriggers the scan of the current
playlist of the client when the client does not return it in the first
call. I have no idea if this resolves your problem. If you want you can
give it a try.
Add the following repository:

http://mjohnen.bplaced.net/repo/repo_beta.xml

You then should get the new version 1.2.17 - Please let me know if the
plugin now works for you. If not additional logs would be helpful.

Are you saying the Alexa/Echo Dot is to be plugged into a RPi2 and that
will feed your LMS ?

If so then install piCorePlayer 5 onto the Pi, disable Squeezelite but
enable pcp-streamer.
Use a USB DAC/ADC such as Behringer UAC202 -
https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Behringer-UCA202-Audio-Interface/79E?origin=product-ads&campaign=PLA+Shop+-+GENERIC&adgroup=GENERIC&medium=vertical_search&network=google&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=9410d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=638853982722&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp8C5s5Go4wIVbb7tCh06AgsrEAQYASABEgIvVvD_BwE
Feed output of Alexa via the USB to Pi and then Tune In URL on LMS in
the form designated under "more" where it says pcp-streamer
There is some lag and you can only connect one player or one
synchronised group

Altrentively using the same hardware but Raspbian, Liquidsoap & Icecast
you can build a similar streamer which does support multiple streams and
seems more stable to me -

It can work with Pulseaudio just a bit harder to do so not shor & easy.

You have not provided any details of the OS being used (ie. version of
Ubuntu) , the LMS server hardware nor the input device ("mic connector"
is not a descirption also possibility of impedence/level mismatch -
Line-in is usual ) being used - so it is hard to give any clear

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alexa to LMS

2019-07-09 Thread bc-nero

Hello!

I would like to bring the music output of my Echo Dot2 to the LMS to
stream into the players.

My system:
Ubuntu homeserver
6 USB sound cards
6 squeezelite instances on the homeserver for each room
Alexa connected to the mic-front connector

Unfortunately, trying with Wavein always failed at Pulseaudio, every
time I remove Pulseaudio, the system becomes unstable.

Has anyone ever done this and can give me a short and easy instruction?

The control by Alexa would be nice too, but getting the sound in LMS
would also be a great thing!

THANK YOU

Thanks for responding philippe. However, I don't quite understand your
response or what to do. I have tried to fix the problem by reinstalling
various versions of LMS. I even restored my system to a
pre-airplay-activated state and all worked well. The issue is when I
activate airplay I always get this message. I get another similar
message when I activate DNLA plugin as well (but since I don't use this
one I've deactivated it). I have also run the *sfc/scannow command*
without any luck, so now I'm thinking of reinstalling the dll, but have
no idea where to put it. Any suggestions, or should I just put up with
it (problems is it recurs every day as I shut down my computer at
night).

Can't find "server power control" in the LMS plugins list - but a quick
search of the forum seems to suggest this is for controling the server
LMS runs on? Is that correct? If so, that really does not belong here.
Also can't find superdatetime, but this appears to be for configuring
the screensaver on a hardware player - so again, not something I think
should be in Material (it's more a setting page, which the default webUI
handles bettter).

As stated, Material already handles "Dont Stop the Music", that only
leaves "SwitchPlayer". For the next release, I've added a button to the
queue toolbar (or main menu for mobile if screen is not wide enough)
which will bring up a dialog allowing you to choose the player to move
the queue to - so only 2 (or 3 if its in the menu) clicks required.
