Not sure I'm following. Using Shairtunes you can send through AirPlay
from your mac to any SB and you can have a bit of control from LMS as
well (like volume/skip) but there are limitations.

Better to set the log for Shairtunes to "info" (in LMS settings, tab
"advanced", item "logging", find item "plugin.shairtunes2W) and set as
well "info" in the dedicated log (same place, but use item
"Shairtunes2W" and you'll see a "Enable logging" line. You can also post
a screenshot of that page of the plugin's settings.

Could you try to have the squeeze2cast helper run on another device for
a while, typically a Linux box? a Pi would be perfect. It does *not*
have to run on the same computer than LMS. You can transfer the
castbridge.xml file if you want to, but I assume that default would do
well, so all you have to do is launch it. If you can do that, then I'll
make a version with debug symbols and we'll know where is crashed using
gdb. It's more complicated with Windows.

All helpers are located here
C:\PROGRA~3\SQUEEZ~1\Cache\INSTAL~1\Plugins\CASTBR~1\Bin and names are
self-explanatory. You can also pick them from there

Ah, I see. In that case, I think I'll disable the notification option again.
It's permanently in the notifications (and I typically have loads of
notifications before I get round to processing them). It's easier to switch to
the LMS webviewer than to find the notification!

I dont see how that is an easier - the target size would be the same.
Plus, there is enough buttons already - and adding one more would reduce
the space for the current display. So, no sorry I have no intention of
adding the power button there.

Have you tried the LastMix plugin with DSTM? If the casual listening
really is casual it does a pretty good job without the complexity of
MusicIP.
It’s best with about 5 seed tracks so I tend to choose an album or a
random seed genre playlist.

It doesn't appear to work with the grid skin, but works fine using the
list view.

Also doesn't work if you have "*sort favorites list*" active in

Hi, is this 'Home Menu Customization' available for other types of

Having said that, you can add/remove items to the Radio's *Home screen*
by selecting a menu item and long pressing the centre knob, to see which

Hi, is this 'Home Menu Customization' available for other types of
player like a Squeezebox Radio for instance? Or is this menu the product
of some kind of plugin as I don't see it on my LMS 8.2 server?

2021-01-23 Thread humax99

Thank you for a great plugin and APK.

Would it be possible to add a Power button for the currently selected
player on the main screen? Currently, as far as I can see, you have to
use the available players drop down list and then tap the power icon
adjacent to the current player.

It would be easier if a Power button icon could be added to the main
screen (including on the APK). Maybe to the right hand side of the name
of the currently selected player situated at the top right of the header
bar.

Thanks again for the excellent work.

Hu.

After some extended testing, unfortunately I'm still seeing occasional
crashing, despite now having a fresh installation of LMS on a new PC:

Retarting Squeeze2cast after crash:
C:\PROGRA~3\SQUEEZ~1\Cache\INSTAL~1\Plugins\CASTBR~1\Bin\SQUEEZ~1.EXE -Z
-b 192.168.0.10 -f C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Logs\castbridge.log -d
all=debug -x C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\prefs\castbridge.xml

Any suggestions on next steps? When it works I have no other issues, but
I just have to restart playback from time to time following a crash.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)

2021-01-23 Thread Xocyah

I am unable to get Chromecast Bridge to work on my old 2012 R2 Server, a
new 2016 Server, and a clean build of Windows 10 (with no changes from
default other than installing LMS). I believe I have followed the
instructions to the letter, but every time Chromecast Bridge attempts to
generate a config file, it fails with:

!! ERROR LOADING CONFIG FILE !

I have seen posts saying this is a firewall problem, but I have allowed
the program "squeeze2cast-win.exe" in the Windows Defender firewall. I
have tried disabling the firewall altogether, and also disabling all
Windows Defender features, as well as adding an exclusion for the
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox folder.

I am running the latest version of LMS (recently updated to 8.1.1) and
Chromecast Bridge v1.46.4.

If I create the file manually, the plugin is able to delete it, so it
has permissions to the file / folder.

How can I avoid the error message and generate the required config file?
Many thanks.

Thanks so much for considering. I have some other s/w (keepass) that
has an option for "minimize to tray instead of taskbar", which I love
because I don't need it on the task bar, just the tray. While you are
thinking about changes, perhaps consider that.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] ARM based substitute for MusicIP?

2021-01-23 Thread sparkyuk

My current system uses the lmscommunity container for LMS along with
ptoulouse/musicip for the Don't Stop the Music plugin. They run on an
old HP server based on the vortexbox software but with a few years worth
of tweaks and additions. I would like to move to a lower power,
probably ARM based, system such as the Odroid N2+ running Ubuntu but the
deal breaker is MusicIP. Almost all the casual listening the system is
used for starts with someone picking a single track and letting it run
from there.

I've found some threads here and posts on the wider web that show that
MusicIP has been made to run on Raspbery Pi based boxes but that's not
my preferred solution and it looks like it may not work with other OS
and arm64. I've also been reading about Musly and Essentia which look
like they offer similar functionality but wondered what other, if any,
suggestions people may have?  Requirements are;

* Must run on arm64 hardware and latest Ubuntu
* Support for Don't Stop the Music plugin, or equivalent, with minimal
user requirement other than choosing a seed track
* Happy to run track analysis on a Windows based desktop as part of the
setup process
* Would prefer any server side component, if one is required, to be
available as a container but am prepared to try and build one
* Happy to compile from source

Thanks in advance!

graceless failure was a big disappointment
Early internet radio - poor
Squeezebox Radio with native BBC radio support - much better
iPlayer plugin on SBR and app on other devices - lovely, albeit
frustrations when BBC changes kept breaking the iPlayer plugin (and
sometimes the app, too)
Sounds plugin on SBR and app on other devices - lovely, but just
irkesomely different from iPlayer, some bits better, some bits worse

On balance, at 54, I'm actually happiest with the latest iteration :)

It's a very unfair world. :)

I've attached some Radio logs that I was able to capture. They may or
may not be helpful, but you might as well have them available.

As you will see, from the Community firmware the predominate messages
are, in the main -DEBUG audio.codec - decode_aac_callback_heaac:141 not
enough bits-.
The first log is not so clear, but I did not have full access before the
Radio rebooted itself. We may just be seeing some 'last gasps'.

Of interest, I think, is the Standard firmware log. Here we see -DEBUG
audio.codec - src/decode_aac.c:124 sync error 4096 2148-.

That makes me think the the standard firmware might have a stream
synchronization step prior to submitting frames to the decoder proper,
i.e. scanning the incoming stream for something that looks like AAC. Is
such a step taken in the Community firmware ? I could imagine that a
pre-scanning loop that glides over obviously duff data might improve
resilience where a somewhat corrupted stream is present. What does
-faad- do in terms of attempting synchronization ?

I have no experience of this area.

Release 2.12.0 is now available in the main repo.
It includes improvements to the streaming including a move to HTTPS by
default.
There is an option to force it back to http streaming in the options.
However, if you find you need to do that, you should consider updating
to a newer version of LMS and it's dependent components.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Success: MusicIP and Spicefly Sugarcube running on Raspberry Pi

2021-01-23 Thread frankd

I have updated the tutorial on the first page to reflect buster
installations. Before it was a piecemeal across multiple posts. Let me
know if you find errors or have proposals for improvement.

Hi TheCoyote,
I have updated the instruction on the first page which should reflect
the current Buster version of the Raspberry.
Maybe you can retry the installation (it worked for a number of people)
following these instructions.
For me it looks like you were not successfull in modifiying the the
linux package libc6_2.28-10_i386.deb.
What distribution do you use?
Best,
Frank

Makes sense. I've just updated the skin so that long-press on the volume
buttons behave this wiy, and will update APK.
