Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin
As SamY states the plugin does not compensate for the double reduction going on when both the receiver and the player are reducing the volume. I am not sure I ever considered trying to match the outputs. I did run three experiments: * Version 4.1 with the player set to 100% * Version 4.1 with the player set to variable * Version 1.92 with the player set to variable. In all cases I set the player volume to 80% and the corresponding command to the AVP was 625 (or 62.5). In my setup that represented a -17.5 because my max is -10. As SamY stated we really only care about sending a pure digital, uncompromised signal to the amp. I just left the other one in play incase someone wanted it or could not support a digital signal. When using this plugin, the Volume Control setting should always be set to "Output level is fixed at 100%" in order to provide a fixed line-level input to the preamp of your AVR. Otherwise, you are effectively running with two preamps in series, both controlled by the same volume control. An LMS client volume setting of 40%, for instance, will result in a signal of .40 times .40, or 16% of full volume. Similarly, 50% will yield 25%, etc. Some client apps (SqueezeCtrl for one) confusingly require setting an app preference in order to process volume requests when the LMS player level is set at 100%. Most work fine without any special consideration. The most important reason to use the fixed 100% output level is to avoid modifying the digital signal in the analog domain, which can introduce distortion. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin
I just installed this mod today on my Raspberry Pi (piCorePlayer). I'm having one big issue. The sound is very low, when my volume on my Denon AVR-2400H is set to a level I know how loud should be. If I go into LMS settings -> Player -> Audio and change "Volume Control" to "Output Level is fixed at 100%", the volume returns to normal. I then tried disabling the mod, made sure on the LMS player, to turn the (internal) volume all the way up, then reactivated the mod, the problem returned. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LMS on PI3b
No need to change. It can reduce writes to your SD card - which might help increase its lifespan or perhaps on a restoration from uncontrolled power failure. However, I suspect a lot of people do not move it and they have no problems. Take a backup to cover the possibility of issues in the future and then when it does go wrong you can kick yourself for not having taken a backup more recently. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] 'MediaServer' *certified* Alexa skill for LMS
Skills are now permitted to send *lossless* streams to Echo devices - yaay! Under the hood, MediaServer uses the *stream.mp3* mechanism to setup a network client whose audio is directed to the Echo. This always transcodes the stream to - you guessed it - mp3, so it's lossy. I have some ideas for how to get lossless directed to the Echo natively, but short of a miracle like the devs creating *stream.flac* for us, all would involve no pseudo-player in LMS showing up for the Echo in question. Is that a show-stopper? Full access to your local LMS library, but bypassing the GUI when streaming lossless files? To give you a flavour of what to expect, I've modified MediaServer's code for the *StreamFavorite* intent. When you ask to Stream an internet radio favorite whose URL starts with *https://* -and- which has the word 'FLAC' or 'lossless' in the URL string itself, that URL is passed directly to the Echo without starting up stream.mp3 in LMS. The sound quality is noticeably better, even on a Dot 3 but certainly on an Echo Show 2 which is a very decent device. I've even succeeded in sending 24-bit 88.2KHz stuff to the Echo in testing. To give it a try with e.g. RP, create a favorite from one of the flac/flacm URLs at https://www.hiresaudio.online/radio-paradise/ and make sure to make it https. Call it Radio Paradise. Now, when you say "Alexa, stream favorite 'Radio Paradise'" you'll get the lossless stream with no transcoding by stream.mp3. You'll notice this worked correctly if the background image on an Echo Show says 'LMS DirectStream' instead of 'LMS Stream', the favorite's name is shown with [Lossless] added, and a different image is displayed. The now-playing metadata from the station will not display (yet). I'd prefer to find a generic solution but some broadcasters of HLS streams are doing custom variations as they usually can control the player (i.e. App, browser based) so generic may not be possible in this case. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The hlsplay must not be used as a playable URL - it is used internally by plugin to deal with m3u8 playlist and if used directly will skip some HLS processing. Many HLS URL already have that have to be supplied with http parameters - so PlayHLS cannot strip universally parameters from a http URL. The parameters would have be "special" a bit like the LMS "#SLIM" Can you give an example of an URL that works with mplayer ? Does it work with ffplay - I prefer ffplay as it give better logging facilities) BTW - I noticed when playing one of your Radio France that a "hlsplay" URL appeared in "More" - this should not happen. At some point I was going to check it out. It can happen if the "wrong" LMS API is used - the API to show playing URL of a son is $song->streamUrl - if that is what you using then I need to look further (e.g you are using requesting hslplay URL to play) bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: PlayHLS Plugin - plugin to play Apple HLS m3u8 stream
I am working on something that needs (at least) a specific HTTP header to be set (might also need some cookies) to get a protected stream to play. The stream is only available via HLS. I can make the stream work using mplayer -http-header-fields. The header name is fixed but the contents is variable (I have not determined if the change of the value is per stream launch or on a longer timer that I can provide outside). I was thinking that one way to achieve it would be to append something to the URL that is used to launch things and then have PlayHLS create header from it and strip it. something like hls:streamer.com/protectedtream.m3u8?headerlist=name1=value1,name2=value2 Any thoughts?
