You've had odd and inconsistent issues such as sudden appearance of
"under voltage"

CD-Text menu comes from text that is on a special section of the CD
Random volume changes used to annoy me. I use Spotty, but have not seen
this since I set all my players Volume Control = Output level is fixed
at 100%. Problem solved (for me). I prefer to use the volume controls
of the computer or AVR.

I think it is just you.
Can you be more specific on "weird" ? missing
Whatever happened to my original system, it meant I've had to completely
rebuild.
.so, I would like to focus on the Windows version - at the moment it's
the only one which actually produces sound. It's just that the menus
are weird. Just me? Or do others get the same issues?
Thanks for the pointer, I am using Spotty so it looks like it is that.

Since an IOS Spotify client update on 2022-02-12 the connect mode isn't
working reliable anymore for me. It simply stops the song while reaching
the end :( . While using spotty through LMS works like a charm though.
Leaving a small server.log snippet here but I assume this is nothing to
fix on
Thanks for the details. I can confirm it doesn't play (and it wouldn't
play with the upstream librespot either). I reported the issue to the
librespot devs. Let's see what that gives.
Must be https://github.com/librespot-org/librespot/issues/818 again.

Sounds like a Spotify connect problem. Many posts on similar.
I have the volume of Squeezelite-X set to 100% but every so often
(greater than 5 minutes, less than an hour at a guess) the volume
reduces to 47%. Any ideas why and how I can fix it?

Another question: I have several podcasts in Spotify, but when I try to
play some of the shows using Spotty on my Squeezebox Radio, doesn't
matter which episode I try to play, I get messages like this:
"Problem: Can't open file for: 2022-02-14 - Boba Fett: S1E6 - From the

I've given up on the pi 2 - too many variables for my poor old brain.
Will concentrate on the pi 3 and the Windows setup...

If you do lsblk - the device with TYPE "rom" device is the CD drive.

For most Linux - a USB CD drive appears as a SCSI bus device so it will
be either /dev/sr0

try lsblk
Code:
pi@raspberry:~ $ lsblk
NAMEMAJ:MIN
In desperation, I dragged out an old pi (version 2 I think). In dmesg
the cdrom is listed but I can't find. Its /dev name for the plugin.
Can you remind me how to discover this?

Funny, That link wasn't working last night (I think Wiki had problems)
Only about 200 CDs out of the many

thank you so much @Philippe_44 . it makes sense
As a native LMS player using SlimProto ... I think it is unique.
However, you could use a different sort of player.
For example - something that can play a SHOUTcast stream (an "internet
radio" app that allows you to enter a stream URL of your own choice)
could access the stream.mp3 stream from

Like all good problems it required more than one issue.
1. A difference between icedax and cdda2wav, cdda2wav exposes hidden CD
track, icedax doesn't expose hidden track.
2. A CD with a hidden track - not common.
3. MusicBrainz ID is calculated using "Normal" track and does not

Thanks, Paul. Does that mean iPeng's Playback feature is unique in its
ability to turn an iPad etc into a player?

No - Material skin does not include a player.
It could be used to control a player on the same system (via LMS) ...
just like it can control any other players.

So, can you use Material Skin as a player on the device it's running on?
In the same way as you can use iPeng's Playback function?

Another minor one, probably mentioned in the long thread somewhere, but
just for fun I tried the Alexa Windows app as a player and it doesn't
work - but this is probably because it uses some off-net proxy (the
private address space that I do not use is a good clue) of it's own, as
seen in the
