Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SMB share only giving me ~1GB out of 931GB Win10 <-> RPi4 pCP

2022-02-25 Thread Grumpy Bob

What format is the external drive? Is it USB connected to the Pi? Have
you installed additional file systems support on pCP?

I have several Raspberry Pi servers, two of which use EXT4 formatted USB
drives, and I can access them from my MacBook without problems using
Samba. I'm not really much of a Windows user these days.

And ist there any alternative to samba? It seems this problem is a
keeper, until MS either patches it, or the pCP-team changes the samba

How can I edit /usr/local/etc/samba/smb.conf beyond what the pCP backend

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin

2022-02-25 Thread bpa

I found one track on one CD which would always be displayed wrong on
Windows and OK on Linux. I think I have a fix for this issues which I
think may be the same as yours.

The decode routine I use (*Encode::decode_utf8* which is equivalent to
*Encode::decode("utf8",$str)* ) to convert string into UTF-8 apparently
doesn't always, there are time when it doesn't. Although reason are not
clear, it may be related to locale - Linux locales tends to be utf8
whereas windows is cp1252
Attached is modified version of a file in the plugin. CDPLAY.pm - its
use the *Encode::decode("UTF-8",$str)* which should always convert into
UTF-8. It seems utf8 is not the same as UTF-8 or even utf-8 - all
different. I can't see the point in having a conversion routine that
only sometimes converts !

The attached CDPLAY.pm is to be installed in the LMS
Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugs/CDplayer

Stop LMS, replace the CDPLAY.pm file and then restart LMS and see it it
makes a difference.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SMB share only giving me ~1GB out of 931GB Win10 <-> RPi4 pCP

2022-02-25 Thread sheeple

Hi folks,
it was some work to get my Samba Share from a piCorePlayer 8.1
installation going with Win10. It was necessary to reactivate SMB 1.0
support and additionally change a registry key for guest user
authentication. The drive is now listed and accessible from my Windows
10 Desktop, where I work on and also organize my music collection. But I
cannot transfer more than a 1GB of data to the external hard drive that
is mounted to the Pi4. This has nominally a terrabyte of storage
capacity (real 931 GB) and I have mounted it with permission 0664 to the
Pi4. In Windows10 network explorer, the hdd does not indicate its size,
it reads as 0 Byte capacity. How can I tell it that I want my other 930
GB, too? PITA

The behaviour is unpredictable.
I can get proper display for ages and then suddenly it flips into wrong
display.
I think I narrowed it down to a library routine (which should be solid)
but I can't get bad behaviour again to confirm. I thought it might be
due to a "sleep" period or flipping CDs but after trying a few things,
it is still showing correct display.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Pipe Squeezelite to Icecast

2022-02-25 Thread Hellsblade

Matt Drown wrote:
> Here's my full ices config file, minus passwords.

Thx for the help.

But my ices2 seems to be unstable for me. So i gave darkice a try with
what seems to be a more stable result.
I use the standard the standard compiled squeezebox pointing to the
default output (according to -l its pointing to pulseaudio?)

Code:

[default- Playback/recording through the PulseAudio
sound server]

So i used
Code:

./squeezelite -n Test -z -o default

and catch the output with darkice pointing to icecast and also to the
device=default (the only one working) when starting

So now the sound is playing on my hdmi output and it has a stable mp3
stream in icecast.
So i'm happy with that. One issue left is there is no song title etc. in
the stream.
Instead of your metadata script which gave me different results (i must
be doing something wrong), someone gave me an ncat/lua script that works
also.
It seems that darkice can not point to a changing txt file or any
metadata in a stream except the parameters in darkice.cfg that go the
server.
All the info I want shows up in the LMS interface anyway.
Maybe I will/can find an option for that. But at least I can now turn
off my windows VM for now :).

Greetings, Henk.

I appreciate all your efforts with this. I guess some would just accept

I'd hate to see the plugin just fade away as it has proved ideal for my

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin

Very very very few people use the plugin, especially on windows (after
win10 messes up CD drive stuff with new handling of fake scsi over usb)
and then usually to try out a CD.
It is a plugin that should be left to fade away.

The only reason I am still chasing this as it looks like a Windows LMS
bug

Not sure it is good or bad news.
Overnight the Windows system that was working OK, is now giving the
errors. Some cache must have expired - which could add another layer of
complexity.

The display problem is that strings which are UTF8 encoded are not
recognised as such on Windows/LMS and are re-encoded whereas on
Linux/LMS they are recognised as UTF8 and so left alone.

Now to figure where the error is happening.

Encoding in URL:
Gymnop%C3%A9dies

Linux:
Gymnop\xC3\xA9dies -> Gymnop\u00E9dies
Gymnopédies

Windows:
Gymnop\xC3\x83\xC2\xA9dies -> Gymnop\u00C3\u00A9dies
Gymnopédies

Anyone use a dlna and a chromecast enabled speaker at same time? I try
to syncronize my JBL Playlist 150 (Chromecast) with an IKEA Symfonisk
(DLNA) speaker with no success. Various delays after every track. Any
suggestions?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: YouTube Plugin (API v3)

2022-02-25 Thread beneix

I've been using the plugin successfully but suddenly it stopped
producing sound. The API works – I can search etc., but when I start
playing something it only looks like it is playing. There is no sound
and after a while, the stream stalls. This is in the server log:

[SlimDevices: Plugins] How to download ans install DSDplayer for transporter?

2022-02-25 Thread GXB

Hi I have a transporter, but have not used for many years. And I don't
know about LMS too much. Just beginner level, in learning.

One question, how could I download and install DSDplayer for my
transporter?

And DSDplayer only allow transporter to output DSD digital singal,
right? And I have to connect transporter to a DSD capable DAC through
SPDIF cable, correct?

Pls advise, thanks!
