If some programs play and others do not - then it is likely to be a BBC
issue.
Have you disabled any audio formats in either BBCiPlayer settings or
SBS Filetypes ?
Can you give a specific example of a program that doesn't play and that
was broadcast at least 24 hrs ago.

AlienBBC is broken because BBC have changed their website not because of
7.4.x
Are you using a 64 bit kernel ? If so then install the 32 bit
compatibility libraries as supplied faad and flac are 32 bit binaries.

What works depends on what you have configured and what stream formats
are being picked up. Get a log with player.source set to debug and copy
relevant log entries to a post.
First make sure faad and flac are working. Test the SBS versions on a
command line.

FFWD works for me but I find if you try to ffwd within the first about
30 secs of playing it will fail.
So when you try to FFWD wait about 30 secs after audio has started and
alsop make sure the buffering message has gone and see if that works.

The Radiofeeds UK APP has up to date URLs for WMA including many local
Radio ones.
The Logitech ones in the BBC App are a bit out of date but should still
work OK for non UK listeners.

I had a feeling MIS customisation mightg have been the issue but since I
don't use it, I wasn't familiar with it enough to test it.
This is a bug but it needs more investigation to determine whether the

I think the problem is exacerbated by the fact the Duration value for a
stream is not known until the stream starts playing but MIS tries to
display the duration when the play button is pressed when duration
has not yet been defined.

That error seems like using a plugin not compatibile with 7.4.*.
You did restart SBS after installing plugin and then check version no

transcoding load on the server whereas for MP3 there is no transcoding.

BBCiPlayer should send an MP3 stream direct to player - no transcoding
(i.e.no load on QNAP) and no delay.
Any previous remark I made about 10 secs delay were probably in the
context of mplayer for AlienBBC and playing RealAudio.

Check CPU load of the QNAP - if it is high 70% or more then then
