I would be very interested in such a plugin. I agree about perl/squeezebox server. I tried a few times to get into developing plugins, but the pain of learning perl combined with the complete lag of documentation on how to write plugins killed my spirit every time :(.

As far as I recall it mainly(edit: exclusively) happens while browsing. Actually it might particularly happen when using the search function, but maybe I just feel that way because that is something I do a lot and that is when it is the most annoying.

The server is an old Acer Aspire Revo nettop running VortexBox 2.3. I think it is the R1600 model, its an atom processor with 2GB RAM and a 120GB drive. It is connected to the router with a wire, but the players (one Touch and one piCorePlayer on RPi) are connected over wifi.
