It stuttered again. :(

I hope you see something in the log that can explain why this is
happening (it stuttered twice during the first track):

39402

The stutters are less frequent than with the static version of the
binaries.

I didn't have that. So I did:

Code:

sudo apt-get install libssl-dev

And now the non-static binary doesn't crash. :)

Since it worked before the upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, maybe it
somehow got lost during the upgrade process. I wonder what else isn't
working correctly and hasn't shown yet. Anyway, thank you so much for
helping me correct this problem. Maybe that will fix the stutter, too.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)

I updated to 1.1.0.11 because I wanted to fix some issues with
interrupted playback (random stutters).

The non-static binary for 1.1.0.11 kept crashing so I switched to
squeeze2raop-linux-x86_64-static which works as expected. I enabled
logging and waited for a stutter:

There's a bug when switching from landscape to not landscape on an
iPhone (iOS 15.1), where Material ignores the phone's status bar when
rendering the new view:

It doesn't happen all the time but pretty often.

One type can be updated within Material (plugins), the other type cannot
(LMS). To update LMS, I have to go to the nightly page, copy the link
for my distribution, open a terminal, wget that link, and then install
that file. To update a plugin, I click on download and then restart.
That I could do easily from my phone.

Right now, I only see "Updates available", but I don't know if it's the
type I can easily install from my phone. So I have to click and check by
myself what kind of update it is. And I have to do that until I update
LMS, otherwise, I never know if plugin updates are available, because
it's the same icon. And then again, if a new nightly is available.

If I'd enable "Update plugins automatically" within LMS, I wouldn't get
two types of notifications that look the same, but also I wouldn't be
notified of any updated plugins that need a restart. That's why I
thought that two icons for two different updates might be helpful.

Maybe it's a silly suggestion, but what about making the green "Updates
available" arrow background blue if the available update is for LMS (or
the other way round) and maybe blue/green if there are updates for LMS
and plugins available? That way it would be possible to see at a glance
which kind of updates are available. Something like this:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)

2021-10-21 Thread dolodobendan

I installed the AirPlay bridge on my new Ubuntu server. I didn't have to
do anything, it worked right out of the box. That's quite a different
experience from what I'm used to from my NAS installation. The only
thing was that I had to enable a player manually -after- renaming it
(that umlaut-thing I mentioned).

If I may make a suggestion:

At the moment, the players get their LMS name based on a MAC address
(the BBB... one, I think). I don't know how it works with other devices,
but with Sonos speakers, it looks like this:

Code:

  "Küche aa:aa:aa:aa:aa:aa @Küche._raop._tcp.local
Sonos-"

If other devices also announce their given name (like "Küche" in this
example) in the AirPlay bridge, what about using that name instead of
the MAC address? Not a big thing, really, but they get a name assigned
anyway.

I just cleaned my Windows Desktop "Stuff" folder and found an old
confusing screenshot collage I made (and posted here somewhere some time
ago):

35540

I still see this behavior (the duration is ONLY displayed if search
results have the same POSITION in both LMS search and Squeeze Control
search. That's only the case for the second result here. And IF the
duration is shown the artist name is shown in parenthesis behind the
album title. That's not in the graphic, though). Can anyone confirm
this?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2020-12-02 Thread dolodobendan

This is probably the wrong thread, but anyway:

If I add a podcast that's already been played for a while, I get the
option to "Play from the last position (mm:ss)" or "Play from the
beginning".

If I now "Append to queue" the "Play from the beginning", I get this:

32395

The item added is called "Play from the beginning" instead of its title.
Could be a design choice, of course. But:

Now if I "Append to queue" the "Play from the last position", it'll look
like this (first three entries):

32396

Every time I "Append to queue" something, all appended items will get
the name of the last appended item.

I know it's normally a either / or kind of thing, but it's strange
anyway. So maybe new items shouldn't be added if there's one of the two
options already in the queue? Just flip it then?

You were probably right with the cache. I restarted QLMS which triggered
the installation of a new nightly and reliable updated immediately.

I have two episodes of a 'podcast'
(https://podcastfeeds.nbcnews.com/msnbc-rachel-maddow) in my current
playlist:

1. "The last presidential..." (~72:02m)
2. "Some sites of..." (~51:32m)

The first one doesn't work for some reason. When I click on that entry
in the playlist screen (right), I assume LMS tries to play it but
eventually gives up and skips to the next one. That's expected. Not
expected is that the playlist screen does not show that it's the second
entry that's actually playing now. The play symbol still is on the first
entry. The "now playing" screen (middle) has it right: "2 of 2".

Whatever the problem is with the first entry, the playlist screen should
reflect what file is being played.

Yes and yes. I never understood why Windows doesn't refresh the system

I was not able to reproduce it since SLX updated to 2.6.35. I couldn't
test it with 2.6.34 because after the MS Store updated to .34, it
immediately offered the update to .35. Never saw this before. (Are the
updates incremental?)

Thank you, everything seems to work perfectly now.

Of course not. :o

There was no "Settings" in the Reliable row in "Active plugins", so I
thought there were none. Thank you.

Never mind for now, I didn't know about the on switch. Would it be
possible to get this "Settings" link in the Plugins tab for Reliable?

Yes, yes, I know. We were also too lazy to come up with our own
translation. Maybe there's a correlation between the lengths of a
borrowed word and the energy invested to translate it.

  "Zap":"Zappen",

I don't use the S-Mode. Run in background, start minimized, yes. I don't
have the Surface here now, so I cannot test while writing this. But as
it's not too complicated, I'll just describe what I think I do.

For example, to install updates from the MS Store, the Store's installer
will end SLX processes (actually, I never checked if all processes have
been terminated). After the update, I have to restart SLX, so I type
. Now it's in the tray, still green I
think, but not 100% sure. I double click it. It opens and more or less
immediately closes. The tray symbol is gone (after being hovered over
with the cursor) and I -think- the only processes still running are
squeezelite-ffmpeg.exe and its conhost.exe. I'll check that later
today.

While I work hard on keeping the appearance that I don't know what I'm
doing, most of the time I actually do. In the times I don't it's
educated guesses. But don't tell anyone. :p And no offense taken, I've
seen my share of basics gone wrong. The problem with the store apps is
that appearance in the tray is set to a specific path (IIRC) and not to
the app's store ID (or whatever it's called). New version = new path =
new taskbar settings required. Whoever had that great idea. :)

I get now what it does, thank you. But a "standard LMS feature" that
needs Erland's Custom Skip?

Well, as long as it's optional...

Where would I find this zapping in the default Web UI (which apparently
is somewhere even without Custom Skip installed)? Then I could switch to
German and see how it was translated. No need to come up with new
translations.

2.6.33 was just installed here after searching for updates in the MS
store.

I still / again see the issue with SLX half crashing (not in the tray
anymore but still running as a process) if opened (kind of) immediately
from tray after starting it. If I run Process Explorer and wait for the
CPU load to drop before opening SLX from the tray, it never (?) crashes.
That's Surface Go only, I wasn't able to reproduce this on my desktop PC
or main notebook (both old i7s).

I didn't download it, LMS did. I clicked on "Enable" in "3rd party
plugins" and then "Apply".

I then replaced that bogus file with the one I manually downloaded (and
renamed) at https://sourceforge.net/projects/lms-reliable/files/dev/.

After that, I restarted the server and it's installed now. Is it
possible that the "native repo" has the wrong path? It's a fairly new
entry, maybe some copy and paste gone rogue?

Not sure if it's even possible with hardware players. I think

Not necessarily. If there were a check if the whole file fits in the
buffer, playback could be started despite the buffer not being full. IF
that is the problem.

Just guessing here, but maybe it only starts playing if whatever is
being played fills the buffer. At 96kbps it might not. If possible, try
setting the buffer to 1/3 to test this.

You can stop the telemetry the same way you stopped it (or claimed to)
in Windows 7. Also, you don't need an account to install Windows 10.

But I'm not on a mission to convince you, so knock yourself out. :)

Don't you think that whatever info MS want they could just get from your

from the store, yes. But after that, you can log off and never log in

Yes, but also as ARTIST.

Wouldn't it be easier to include the composer in ALBUM (COMPOSER:
ALBUM)? Looking for a certain symphony also would be easier, as it's
sorted by composers, not by the symphony's number.

Okay. If changing the tooltip is out of the question, I think I'll go
with "Move or copy (setting!) queue" ("Verschiebe oder kopiere

That's what I meant with two strings. But I haven't seen it yet, so I'll

Would it be possible to use two strings here, depending on what is
selected? "Transfer" is a bit confusing as it's just another word for
"move" but not copy, isn't it?

The default skin (WebUI, not SLX) here accepts both forward and backward
actions while Material (WebUI, not SLX) only accepts backward. I think
that's because its UI only has a "back" arrow (hence, no forward action
supported). And yes, it would be nice if at least the back button would
work in SLX.

Yes, it's the default setting. :) Speaking of mapping, the single most
important button is the "dpi button" (the one that sits beneath the

Not sure about this tilting, but pressing the back mouse button in LMS'
WebUI won't do anything LMS related but will just go to whatever site I
previously visited in that tab. The same (blank site) would happen in
SLX, too, if there wasn't some of Greg's magic preventing this. Maybe
we're talking about different things?

(Just checked Logitech's website: It's still a thing! My G203 doesn't
