Thanks for the background information. I guess Linn's modus operandi is
not surprising given their overall closed-environment, Apple-Like
approach. Too bad. I'm very happy with the (now dated) Linn components
that I have, and am happy that I've been able to make your bridge work
well enough for me - as I'd never trade in LMS against their own server
/ controller offering.

Linn Majik DSM (2015 Variant, Firmware 4.81.405, but assuming it should

Code:

Works for me using piCorePlayer 8.0.0, LMS 8.2.1, uPnP/DLNA Bridge
v.1.70.0 (With the very occasional stall between FLAC tracks. It may be
related to embedded PNG artwork but am not sure. Overall, this works
great for me.)

Hi Philippe,

Do you happen to have higher resolution JPGs of the diagrams from your

Also, when viewing the User Guide from the link on the plugin settings

Hi, for what it's worth, I am using UPnPBridge with a Linn Majik DSM,
2015 Variant, with firmware 'Davaar 80 Build 391 (4.80.391)'
(https://docs.linn.co.uk/wiki/index.php/ReleaseNotes) released on 10 Dec
2020 with few issues. The device appears as in UPnPBridge as available.
There is the occasional hiccup with a playlist getting stuck at the end
of one track (almost always with FLAC files) and not advancing to the
next track, but it is something I can live with.

I gather the issue is that your Auralic is not showing up at all. If
that can be sorted, here are the settings I use with my Linn which (as
far as I know) uses only OpenHome:

Quoting from this page:

https://www.mixcloud.com/developers/#audio-streams

-"The audio streams are not available through the Mixcloud API. There
are two reasons for this.

Firstly, we need to know what has been listened to so that we can report
usage, pay royalties and provide features such as 'Suggested
Shows'.Secondly, Mixcloud needs to pay the bills! We can't give away the
audio for free outside of mixcloud.com simply because it costs us to
host and stream the files and pay royalties."-

Is this a recent change in Mixcloud's policy? For about a week the
Mixcloud plugin returns a "404 Not Found" error when trying to access
"My Mixcloud".

The server log reports:

[21-01-13 22:02:18.1585] Plugins::MixCloud::Plugin::__ANON__ (282)
error: 404 Not Found

Thank you again for confirming this, and no, UPnPBridge is configured to
not transcode anything (as is LMS). I figured I may as well
leave that to the Linn, seeing as it was somewhat more expensive than
the Pi. :)

Indeed, gapless is an issue, but not of a particular concern. The only
issue I've really had with this setup is that tracks get stuck at the
end of a song and it does not advance to the next track. I believe
embedded cover art in the files may play a role, particularly if the
embedded PNGs/JPGs are larger than, say, 2MB...

Hi Paul, Cebolla, thanks very much both - I guess it was indeed my
misunderstanding that UPnPBridge needed an active Squeezelite to
piggyback on to couple with the network player.

I just tested stopping the Squeezelite process while music was playing,
and the music kept playing. ;)

@Paul, what I initially meant with Squeezelite "pairing" with the
BCM2835, please see the screenshot below.

So I guess my own initial question is answered - UPnPBridge reaches out
directly to the network player, and not via Squeezelite, hence the
non-existent dedicated audio card or any ospecial Squeezelite paramaters
make no difference.

Thank you!
JCU

Hi Paul, thank you for your reply - there are actually no audio cables
involved at all. I should have mentioned that the music is transported
digitally over the network to the player.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2019-10-04 Thread jasc

Hello,

I am using UPnPBridge (thank you!) with the following Pi setup, and have
a question about sound quality:

- RPi 4 4GB running 'Max2Play' (https://www.max2play.com/)
- No dedicated audio card, just the RPi4 in a case
- Squeezelite is paired with the Pi's onboard audio BCM2835, i.e.
- sysdefault - bcm2835 ALSA, bcm2835 ALSA, Default Audio Device,
  CARD=ALSA
- ALSA Parameters: 80:::
- Comand Line Options: -C 5

UPnPBridge is in turn paired with Squeezelite, and the network player is
a Linn Majik DSM (which is itself a very good DAC)

*My old setup* had an RPi3 and an IQaudIO Pi-DAC+, Squeezelite was
paired with it, and UPnPBridge with the Linn Majik DSM.

My questions:

- Am I losing sound quality by not having the IQaudIO Pi-DAC+ in the
chain? I have only FLAC and MP3, LMS is set up to not transcode either
format. This is why I assumed that the Pi is mereley -"transporting"-
the unprocessed audio signals to the Linn DSM, and that a dedicated
audio card makes no difference when using UPnPBridge and an external
  DAC. But I am unsure.

- Is there anything in the Squeezelite settings (Selected Device, ALSA
parameters, Command Line Options) that could be changed to ensure the
best possible sound quality (i.e. untouched) output to the Linn DSM?

Many thanks,
JCU
