My knee jerked and said But that's impossible! until I read:

Ah...that makes sense and is in fact quite possibly what's happening
here. I play albums on weekends and tracks to wake me up on work
mornings, so it's not impossible that I've now touched almost all the
albums.

Yes, I understand that that's a large part of the point of TrackStat.
But I've found that there can be problems if the SBS database and the
TrackStat database are significantly out of sync--there can be long
pauses while TrackStat looks for something new to play, which I
attribute to encountering too many tracks that are in TrackStat but no
longer in SBS. This is entirely my fault, as I tend to keep items I
specifically want to audition in one directory, then move them to other
directories once they've been closely listened to. This has been less
of an issue since I realized I can easily clear obsolete TrackStat
data.

I use Never Played Albums and Never Played Tracks via Dynamic
Playlist/TrackStat.

It's almost entirely based on genres...I don't want to randomly hear
non-music material (e.g., comedy, podcasts) or things that can't be
ReplayGained (DTS and AC-3). I think I have two titles as well: Metal
Machine Music and Two Virgins. They don't go down so well in the
middle of the night. :)

Anyway, I suspect that you caught my problem--I've played too many
tracks. I'll just have to switch from Never Played Albums to Least
Played and things will probably be fine.

Thank you very much...donation sent!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Playlists Is Being Odd

2010-09-03 Thread atrocity

I have 4,985 albums with 65,130 songs by 10,059 artists. For the last
three weeks, using Dynamic Playlists combined with TrackStat and Custom
Skip to give me Never Played Albums all night long has given me almost
nothing but Pink Floyd and Shriekback, with a very strong preference for
the most recently added files by either.

I've done a complete rescan and I've deleted obsolete TrackStat
information...tonight I tried Never Played Albums and was immediately
presented with Shriekback followed by Pink Floyd. So I cleared the
playlist and tried again...Shriekback.

I'm a big fan of both bands but...c'mon! I didn't have this problem
until fairly recently and am wondering if an update to the plugin did
something odd. Is anyone else seeing anything like this?

For the last couple months, I've been doing a lot of file moving
followed by clear-rescan followed by deleting obsolete TrackStat data.
I'm guessing that's not normal behavior for most people, but I can't see
how that would be causing my problem...maybe I'm missing something
obvious, though.

And, when it needed to add another album...Shriekback.

I've also noticed the strong preference for newer files in the rare
moments when it's not serving up Pink Floyd or Shriekback. I can see
how that might be a desirable behavior for Never Played Albums,
though.

Maybe you have played all other albums ? It's enough if you have played
one song of them once. Clear and rescan doesn't reset the TrackStat
statistics, TrackStat statistics will survive this.

You need to describe exactly how your playlist is configured, do you
use SQL Playlist or do you use one of the built in playlists in Dynamic
Playlist/TrackStat ?

You also need to describe how your Custom Skip filter as this can be
configured to skip everything else.

If you like to look at the TrackStat statistics you can use the
TrackStat browse menu under My Music. You will probably see a lot of
Pink Floyd and Shriekback at the top of the My Music-TrackStat-Not
Played-Never Played Albums

If you really want to reset the TrackStat data and set all play counts
to 0 and mark all albums as unplayed and remove all ratings, you can do
this by selecting the Remove all data button in the backup section of
TrackStat settings page. However, I suspect this isn't what you want ?
