Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] PiCorePlayer - Installing Tidal --- Error Message - Plugin Failed to Load ...........
He finally got it to work! Moving to a new computer and trying to install with the Chrome Browser initially yielded the same bad result. He then downloaded Firefox and re-installed LMS and it still failed... He then cleared the browser cache and re-installed LMS and for whatever reason, it now worked.. He spent the next hour listening to Tidal... Despite reloading PcP 5 times, Deleting Tidal from MySB.com, re-adding it etc. He is now going to try another Computer with a different Browser. I had no trouble on my Laptop with his MySB.com Account.. This is my weirdest install in 10 years. During his installs of PcP, because of his Bad Credentials for Tidal, it did not automatically check the Tidal Box Pluggin... And PcP prevented The Tidal plugin in LMS? That's enabled by default. How much free space left > > on it? > > There must be thousands of these configurations out there... wouldn't > there have been any errors during the installation process? OK, this was a weird one... To figure out what was going on. I took a spare Raspberry Pi that I had and Installed the 8.1.0 Release as a Player/Server to emulate what my friend was doing 1,200 miles away During the install, I entered my Credentials for MySB.com (which had my Tidal as an Application already) PiCorePlayer came 'alive' and I installed All patches and updates in LMS and Squeezelite... The Tidal Plugin was already Checked (probably based on MySB.com having my Tidal App)... Tidal worked without a hitch for my Tidal Account. This confirmed to me that the 8.1.0 Release was working for what we were trying to do. So, I needed to verify that his MySB.com Account had valid Credentials as well as his Tidal Account. So, I sent my friend an e-mail telling him that he needed to send me: 1.) His Login and Password to his MySB.com 2.) His Login and Password to his Tidal Account So, I get his his credentials and I change the PcP to His MySB.com Account and I see Tidal Listed under 'My Apps'. When I click on Tidal, I get an error message that 'Tidal has invalid credentials'. OK, now we're getting somewhere... I login to his MySB.com Account and see Tidal listed as an App as well as his Tidal Account So, I delete his Tidal Credentials from his MySB.com account and Re-Add them using the information he provided to me It links to his Tidal Account with a Checkmark. OK. So, now we re-start Squeezelite with the new info and just like that I'm streaming with His Tidal Account... Everything is working perfectly. So, now I tell him, he had some bad Tidal Credentials loaded into his MySB.com Account and that I have corrected them (Not sure why his Tidal Account even showed up with a Bad Login and/or Password, but it did).. So, he continues to try to check the Tidal Plugin Box and it will not let him do this at all !! So, here is what I'm guessing may have happened.. During his installs of PcP, because of his Bad Credentials for Tidal, it did not automatically check the Tidal Box Pluggin... And PcP prevented him from checking the Tidal Pluggin Box even though he had corrected the credentials, and restarted PcP many times. On my system However, since I installed PcP with my own MySB.com account which had my correct Tidal Credentials initially, the Tidal Plugin was already checked upon install, and gave me an error message of 'Invalid Tidal Credentials' when I pointed to my friend's MySB.com Account.. So, I'm guessing the only way around this was to Correct the MySB.com Account (Or not have Tidal entered at all) and then do a Fresh Re-install of PcP. Which I'm having him do.. It will work for sure, as I have done it here in my Home... So that is why this was the Bitch of All Bitch PcP installs for me... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] PiCorePlayer - Installing Tidal --- Error Message - Plugin Failed to Load ...........
pCP is a minimal software. Originally less than 15MB. Player Only. While LMS is small in today's software world, in the scheme of pCP, it represents significant bloat to someone wanting to just be a player. So we leave it as an additional download. 8.1.0 is the latest version, there are no required patches. Those that are on 8.1.0 and saw that something happens when you run the patch update..it is a placebo effect. It does download a few updates that are only relevant to an upcoming release of pCP. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. OK, Thanks ! --- My Thoughts I was in the Software Business for over 30 years, so I am familiar with software releases etc. --- The people I help mostly just want to push a button and play music Ideally, the fewer buttons to install a given release is better I have been a user of PiCorePlayer/LMS for over 10 years now. The release packaging of PiCorePlayer is not obvious to me, and the people that I help are pretty much clueless and gravitate to a Volumio solution at the first sight of a problem... Not sure what your objectives are in terms of getting new users running PcP. But ideally, a PcP Release such as 8.1.0 would have everything included when you downloaded it, patches and all... --- Yes it is more work to patch a couple releases with Bug Fixes. (Not development). And having just 1 or 2 releases on your download page should be plenty... I don't think you would want people going back 3 or 4 releases to install PcP, so I'm not sure why they are there We used to drop support of our Software Releases on a Regular Basis to limit the amount of Patches. And I think, the way you have things structured is that; No matter which version of PcP you download, you get the same version of LMS? - Correct? -- This is confusing to me. It would seem that you would want to package LMS with the Player portion of PcP.. But at any rate, I love the features of PcP and encourage all of the new people I install to donate to your efforts Cut-Throat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43167 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116212 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

To clarify. The main LMS package in pCP does not contain architecture specific files. This is what gets updated when you press the "Update LMS" Button. Updating libs, updates the architecture specific perl libraries for the system, and includes the transcoding helper binaries. These files do not change very often. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Yes, Double checked after you posted this .. I wonder if this may have something to do with it. If you recall I was having difficulty installing Tidal a couple months ago and you wrote this post when you figured it out. The log snippet you posted was complaining about lack of IO::Socket::SSL. As long as that problem is not resolved you'll have problems using LMS.
