Found the problem: HTTP port for SC had somehow been set to 9002 instead of 9000 under Networking. If you're running SC 7.3.3 then SC will use alternative ports if port 9000 is busy. The above change could happen if you had some other application using ports 9000/9001. -- Michael

Found a way around the apple lossess problem. By removing mplayer from the slimnas\usr\bin folder and restarting slimserver it's forced to use alac to convert to pcm. Oh, hold on... I think there's still the old custom-convert.conf in place which introduced mplayer conversion for apple

1. slimnas-install.sh assumes that the SlimNas distribution is called slimnas.tgz. I had to rename from slimnas-1.4.99.tgz to slimnas.tgz - this isn't documented on the website Oops... I mentioned this in the earlier update notes (7.1+), but not on the main page. Thanks for the heads up!

Trying to get plugins moved across gradually from manual install to ED, but every time I try to do it I have some kind of issue with ED. make sure you remove the prefs/plugins/state.pref whenever you manually change something. Shouldn't be needed, but might help.

after having solved the first issue with an incomplete squeezeboxserver-7.4.0-28672-noCPAN.tgz (page 6), I now have an issue with internet radio playback. Make sure networking is fully configured in FreeNAS. In particular verify DNS (Basic settings) and gateway (Networking).
