with help of virtual memory coming from my 4.0 GB internal hard drive.
should I get more memory and max-out to 144 MB? Or should I download and
use more mainstream browsers like Netscape or IE. If so what version

The Mac community has been more than generous in its support of Low End
Mac. In ten days, we have lined up a buyer for our TiBook, have some
promising leads for selling our two 333 MHz Rev. D iMacs, and have
received donations covering over $5,000 of our roughly $6,000 debt load.

OS = 7.6, it's probably a good idea, since it's a better VM than VM.
With 8 it's roughly a draw, and with 8.5+ it's useless, as Apple's VM is
much improved by then.

Han,
Could be a bad Power Management card, it's the small card that plugs in
next to the Hard Drive.
Thanks

IMHO, you won't need to completely max out the ram to
get dramatic improvements even in 8.6 (unless you are
doing something really intensive.) our 3400/180 runs
on 48 and it handles word processing apps and online
tasks pretty well. Our 3400/200 has 80, I do image
processing, webdesign and go
I was just reading a page about the 2400 when I
noticed that a suggested replacement for the hard to
find 2400 power adapter is the yo yo shaped 45w ibook

g3 powerbooks. This adapter features
I did an Apple recall exchange with my old 3400 power adapter and then sent me the new
yo-yo adapter and it works just fine. Been using it for a year.

Is there a DVD for the expansion bay in a PB 1400cs so I can watch

I think I can safely say that no, the PB 1400 has no DVD capabilities- much to my own
dismay. DVD-roms require recognition boards that allow you to use them,a nd I don't
think that the PB 1400 can be upgraded to accomodate one feasibly.

Hi,
On my still-being tested 3400 (thx for your patience),
I did a clean 8.1 install, and the 2.9.5 version
worked fine. Then some extensions were moved around
(without my permission) and it crashed. But, 2.9.2
still works. If anybody knows what the difference is
in requirements, please respond.
I conquer with the person below. 48 MB RAM is plenty for basic use in 8.6.
However, maxing the 3400 in RAM is only $80 or so at OWC. So if you can
afford it, go for it. If not, I was still able to do tons to work w/ 48 ram
when I had my 3400.
Good luck, and let us know what you ended up with!
