Can you copy the text to a hex editor to see which character the end of line is
in Powermail? Normally, these rectangles are shown when the font doesn't
contain the character. The end of line should be a line feed (decimal: 10, hex:
0A) on a Mac, but perhaps Powermail is doing something funky
Hi Tom,
chinese characters almost always are an indication that text encoded as UTF8 is
interpreted as UTF16. A simple explanation is here:

That the sender is UTF16 is most likely a bug (looks very nice, by the way). I
I have seen this error several times when copying data from one volume to
another. But not when using a dmg. Can you do the following:
- Download to a newer system.
- Copy the app from the dmg to a folder.
- Compress the app.
- Then move the app to your laptop and de-compress.

No, Sent messages should show up on every client. And really don't do Gmail
with IMAP. Their IMAP implementation is weird. Besides with Gmail there isn't a
big difference between IMAP and POP.

Hi,
as database programmer I can say that both approaches have benefits and
drawbacks.
Database:
Pro: fast useage, fast copying
Con: if it's hosed, then it's really kaputt. However, most issues should be
fixable by deleting the index.
Incremental backups are not so easy.

Hi Peter,
the boundary is encoded according to RFC2231. So far I haven't seen this for
boundaries. Most likely, Powermail doesn't support 2231 in boundaries. And I
will check this for my own application.

One word: IMAP.
What you are trying is to adapt a single user database as multiple user
database. Most likely this will work for a time and then will give you a nice
and subtle corruption. IMAP was designed for this sort of problem.
