We use to use them. The dose pre-alarm setting was the same as the alarm, but
the rate pre-alarm was 80% of the alarm. We stopped using them because WANO
thought we were hiding rate alarms by using the pre-alarms.

North Anna currently does not use the pre-alarm alerts for our DMC-2000s. We
were also concerned for the "pre-alarms" being mistaken for an actual dose or
dose rate alarm.

At Ontario Power Generation we do not use pre-alarms. We want our staff
focussed on monitoring their epd, and not relying on a chirp that could be
mistaken for the actual EPD dose alarm.
