Thanks to everyone for their replies. Interesting to see the wide variety
in use, no one program seems to stand out which suggests that they are all
pretty good. I'll definitely be looking at Sophos Home as that is the free
version of the one we used when I first encountered anti-virus programs.

I don't intend to travel to India which is probably just as well - I had no
idea that India was so restrictive! However I should have remembered my own
comment from when I visited in 1991 as aircrew - we gave them bureaucracy
and they raised it to an art form! I had to get 12
I've used Norton - no complaints - for years, but now Defender+2
for pensioners who travel a lot (and many of us do!) - then you could
try and explain/recommend the stuff here:

Kaspersky has been my go to for the past 8 years or more. You can get a 3
pack license with rebate, for under 15 USD and it used to be free in the
old days.
