This spring I will be laying some track for an O Scale railroad around my
garden. Nothing like a full size train, but just as time consuming. I see full
size cabooses for sale once in a while but my wife won't go for it.
Hi Nicholas, if you are going to build a train outside, I do think it's G

that I have done too) is 'illegal' and able only because we know the driver and
because he is confident.
Driving a passenger train is very easy when all is ok. The main difficulty is

Fascinating though this is it really is straying towards OT.

My scale is definitely O and not G. I decided on O because the price
of rolling stock, etc. is 50% less plus I can get much more operation in the
same space. G scale is too toylike for my taste.
In the U.S. O scale is 1:48 not 1:43.
I suppose this thread has gotten out of hand and the NF

I highly approve. I was thinking since he has so much time, he should start
digging a tunnel out of his basement then lay some track so he can run his
car outside to the lawn. He could charge visitors a fee to climb aboard.

Hey Nicholas - I gotta agree with you. I should find out where he lives - I
know he's in Canada - and ask if I can come visit him! Bet that would be a
RIOT!!!

Hi Geoff,
Didn't you say you rode the train to work every day, and that you like
the old ones better than the newer ones? I admit a small interest in
Hey, it's wonderful !! What is amazing is that he built the car ! here in
France, it's 'easy' to buy an old one. The most complicated is to carry it to
your home and to have enough room for it (it's 24m long in Europe). I haven't
