I tried several times to make WinXP Home work correctly when Protel 99 SE
SP6 is installed under this operating system. The Protel software runs well,
however, WinXP Help and Support feature fails along with it's surprising
amount of associated utilities.
I have had to use Partition Magic 7

Just an FYI in the midst of all the Microsoft/Protel bashing. I have
Protel99se SP6 up and running on my Windows XP Home box and have no problems
with either. SFC , sys info, and everything else work as they are suppose to
run.

Thanks for trying to get back to the original problem.
I am really pleased that everyone has such strong opinions on Microsoft Win
XP and their preferences to W2K Pro, however, if I have followed the thread
Protel 99 se with SP4 causes problems in Win XP home edition. The help and
support facility stops working. Also related to this problem SFC /SCANNOW
stops working and system info also stops working.
The only way that I have found to make these work again is a format and
re-install of XP Home.
