I am having problems within one pcb document in which I cannot place vias
and change layers by using the star key. If I create a new pcb document in
the same database then place track and use star to place a via then
everything's ok.

I've all the routing layers enabled, they appear on the tabs at the bottom
of the working area and as I press the * key whilst routing I can change
layer. What it doesn't do is place a via. I can however use place via (PV)
to place vias after routing.

Hello again,
No DRC problems, Ignore obstacles doesn't make any difference and the via
size is 40/20mil. This job is now very urgent but thankfully not that
complex so I'm just adding vias using the place via command in order to
complete.
