Re: I hate to do this, but...
Just so we're clear about what's going on here, two more quotes. First, we have I posted some questions this morning, but no one is answerring. I understand people have jobs, lives, and are busy. I know that. I would have been willing to wait and be patient for a response... I still am! willing to be patient. My thing is, I'm questioning if it's just people being busy, vs. it's people not knowing the answer to my questions, which I hope isn't the case, considerring how fundemental not to mention paramount of tasks they were that I'm trying to accomplish. Next, we have I'm having a few really bizarre issues, and I can't seem to find anyone who has any clue what is going on. On a different list. I've got no interest in bitching at you. I have a bit of interest in helping people including you, which is why, in case you haven't noticed, I've so far been the only person willing to wade through the diatribe and answer some of your questions. This shouldn't have been posted here in the first place is my point. 12 hours isn't an unreasonable wait time for voluntary assistance. If you want it quicker or you want step by steps, pay someone who has knowledge for their time. Most of us are a pretty cheap date. Apologies to the PT folks for the continuation of the thread on list. For what it's worth, I'd have done the same if someone showed up on RWP insinuating that the knowledge on PTAccess was inadequate, because it's not the case. Re: What mac would you use when working in PT?
It all depends on what you plan to do with PT. Will you be recording a lot of tracks at once then mix using a lot of plug-ins? Will you use a lot of virtual instruments? Depending on what you want to do in PT you'll find that it's probably not nececery to get a very powerfull machine, unless you have the money to burn anyway then go all out. If you have the 7000 Euros to spend on your rig then you might even consider going with HDX hardware and a much smaller/less powerfull Mac, but again all depends on what you want to use your rig for in the end. RE: problem deleting selection
Hi Poppa, Yes I selected the track. I tried what you suggested but this also didn't work. I think I had to start reading all the documentation. It's always difficult to change from one program to another. I've worked with cakewalk sonar for years and then you think that migrating Can't be so difficult. Stupid thought... But I will still give it a try. I was very impressed by the possibility to make my own sounds in Ultra analog from Applied acoustics. In the older days on winxp when using directixer this was also possible within sonar. But now you can only do this in sonar using synth rack view. And thas is very, very lot of work. Re: problem deleting selection
Hello, I doubt having a demonstration copy install is your issue here. When I first started with ProTools it was as a demo and I don't recall us ever being a problem. If you're using ProTools 11, unselect every track in the project, using voice over . Then reselect only the track that you wish to delete material from. The fact that you can delete audio using the tutorials just makes me there is just a selection problem going on here. RE: problem deleting selection
Tom, I was in the same boat, I migrated to PT after using Sonar for many years, and for about the first year I struggled with PT because I kept going back to Sonar, but at some point it all started to click and I have never looked back. I haven't fired up a Sonar rig for over a year or more now. I run a small project studio using PT and am glad I paid my dues. You will come to find that sometimes that it is just simply something so small, a check box or something making all of the difference for you, but when you figure it out you will feel a little silly that it was something so small. Here is something else to throw at you, if you copy/duplicate one of the tracks from the Pro Tools with speech session can you edit that one? I wonder if maybe something is going on when you create a new track. Also, have you attempted to import an audio track into that session and try and edit that one? Perhaps I can get some time to talk to you via Face Time or something today or tomorrow and attempt some basic trouble shooting. If so then leave me your phone number or Face time information. Re: Control Surface Recommendations
You are confusing the Hot Key Metrix with the Editor Keys pro Tools keyboard. The Editors Key Pro Tools keyboard is a standard computer keyboard with the Pro Tools hotKeys printed on each key along with the the normal letters of the keyboard. Its basically a cheat sheet for a sighted person so they won’t have to remember all the keyboard shortcuts. The hot key matrix is a controller that only has buttons and each of pro tools functions are assigned to a button so they can be done in a single button press. i think the hot key matrix has something like 145 or something buttons on it. proper method for dealing with markers in Pro Tools 11 when working with elastic audio and using the quantize function
Hi, I am working on a class assignment that requires me to quantize drums to the grid using the click track. I have messed around with the quantize functions but when my instructor saw the project they said that there were way to many markers after setting the view for use with elastic audio and I did the quantize infront of them and they said the drums were not on the grid. I know about the option numpad 5 command but how using voiceover do you go about setting the values properly to quantize properly? I even went as far as to call Avid support and asked them if they could remote into my system and be my eyes for helping me out with this issue and they said they did understand about the markers but they don't teach usage of the software and could offer no suggestions as to how I can complete this assignment accessibley or who I could contact to help me either do this with voiceover or just be my eyes and I could explain what I needed done and we could work together to get this done. What at this point is my best option or is there someone directly at Avid I can contact to help me out get things properly setup in this session so these markers are properly lined up so when I do the quantize option the drums go to the grid? RE: Control Surface Recommendations
I'm sorry, thanks for the clarification. -Original Message- From: ptaccess@googlegroups.com [mailto:ptaccess@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of TheOreoMonster Sent: Wednesday, April 01, 2015 2:24 PM To: ptaccess@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Control Surface Recommendations You are confusing the Hot Key Metrix with the Editor Keys pro Tools keyboard. As I understand it's basically a keyboard and all keys have dedicated functions in PT, so there's no key with 2 or more functions by using modifier keys etc. I'm just wondering if it will be useful and whether it will be possible to memorise the layout of all keys. I searched for this in the manual, and automation is taken care of, also for plugin parameters. I will test this Myself soonly. If it works as good as the avid controlers, I let you know. The money aspect might be interesting. And why spend more then is needed? the idea of having an Avid device does not arouse me one bit. i wanna have a good and working controler. if thats a QCon pro, its fine by me. Re: control service question
Hi Brian, we've just been discussing this very control surface in another conversation on this mailing list. I've got a BCF but I haven't been able to try using it with ProTools yet. I should be able to give this ago in the next two weeks. I know that you can definitely automate volume and pan, but I am unsure about automating plug-ins with it yet. I shall report back when I know more.
