Hi Nickus,

I have both the   160 & the newer 160 x dbx units and the 160 from back in 1981 
and its great for bass & kick, but i wouldn't  use it for vocals though. :)

I use the valley people "commander" for my vocal chain now.
Heres the 1 Im going to get next;
ADL 1000 Mono Tube Compressor

I'm not sure what you would consider to be blind friendly but I have the ART 
pro vla ii stereo compressor in my rack and use it almost every  mix and 
tracking session. Its very usable for a relatively cheap unit.

Pretty much all analog compressors will be blind friendly, this really depends 
on your budget.
Personally I am a big fan of the DBX analogue compressors, more specifically 
the DBX 160 series, wish I had the money for one. A while back I worked in a 
facility who had a very nice UAD analogue compressor, I can’t remember the 
model at all.

Best would be to decide on a budget and then read up on models which falls 
within your budget, personally I find Sound on Sound magazine reviews a great 
source of information when it comes through equipment.
