Thanks so much, Slau. Much to dig into there. :D And thanks again, I didn't
even think to check preferences on the double click. Doh.

My feeling right now is not great tbh. I find it very confusing, and

I did that because I didn't seem to get flo tools working right so I
thought I'd let that be for now. I have some odd problems whether I use
flo or not, like I can't seem to make PT play an audio track that I
recorded. The file is created, I checked. I can monitor and get level and
peak values, but it won't play. But then, I import a file on a new track
and it plays fine. so I made a track preset and use that on the first
silent track, and Voila, now I can hear it. But I can't see any difference
in the output. Btw, I find the I'O settings to be something of a clusterf.
Everything I open or create tells me that some bus or other can't be
mapped to something or other. PT might not like my interface, but I can't
 imagine that is the issue.
 Sigh.

It’s a matter of familiarity. Once you learn the workflow, it can be as fluid
as a sighted engineer, and even more fluid than a sighty who relies on mouse
clicks.

The I/O issue sounds like the playback engine was changed. This happens when PT
is launched without the interface being on, and it stays that way until changed
in setup>playback engine. It’s always worth checking this before opening or
creating sessions.

The quick way to deal with mappings in setup>I/O is opening each tab, input,
output, and bus, and each time pressing command plus a, then pressing delete,
and navigating to and pressing the default button in each tab. The I/O is saved
in sessions, which makes it possible to keep internal buses intact.

This group is a fantastic resource, and if you haven’t yet, ask to join the
WhatsApp and Dropbox. WhatsApp is a good place to ask questions, and Dropbox is
a great collection of basically every resource you’ll need for blindness
specific Pro Tools use. We’re a lucky bunch to have peers who collaborate and
work with Avid to make this possible. You’re not alone in finding it tricky out
of the gate, and having been there myself, I assure you it’s because the amount
of control you’ll have is unmatched.

Hi Jenny,

Just so you know "F Tools" is not necessary to run pro tools.
In fact its better to get familiar with Pro tools before introducing any
software that requires you to use a second layer of key commands not found in
the Pro Tools manual.
I also have used Logic pro and found it to be very slow doing the basic audio
functions I can fly through in Pro tools ultra, with a HDX card

properly install flotools. In the meantime, thank you for the info. I will look

Re: Flo Tools 2020.3 is out

2020-05-25 Thread Chi Kim
For curiosity, I ran the download link through virustotal.com. It
doesn't have Avast, but it passed all 80 engines.

https://www.virustotal.com/gui/url/bd2b778837b61c6b57beebbbe63b782077b0231714759df0437314ddc3d5d213/detection

The installer is also notarized for distribution by Apple which includes
malwarescan.

It's probably a false positive from Avast.

Sounds like you're running some kind of antivirus? That's probably where this
is coming from. Can you bypass it for specific applications?

2020-05-24 Thread JennyK Productions
Hi. I'm new here and just in the possible transition from Logic to Pro
tools. I'll be running kb maestro trial and the PT trial to see if it's
something for me. But when I try to extract the this latest version of Flo
tools from flotools.org, I get this from my mac : "We've moved .BC.T_kb8eQ8
to your Virus Chest because it was infected with MacOS:Bundlore-FC [Adw].

I'm quite weirded out by that and obviously can't install flotools. . Any
thoughts?
Thoughts?

Yeah, that's Apple's way of sheltering you in place.

Thanks for all the great work, I ran the installer and aside from
about 10 permissions dialogues, it went fine.

Flo Tools 2020.3 is out

2020-04-04 Thread Slau Halatyn
Just an FYI that last night the latest version of Flo Tools, version 2020.3
compatible with Pro Tools 2020.3, was released. Catalina really clamped down on
a few things with the installer and a few people had problems running the
installer so we had a number of things to fix so that the installation ran
smoothly. Any users who have not yet downloaded the installer or downloaded it
before yesterday should re-download the installer from FloTools.org whenever
you can.

Cheers!
