If the purpose is to clear it, yes, but I was just pointing out that one could 
treat the data with editing commands like cut, copy, paste, etc. or simply hit 
the Delete key. I guess I just think of that as faster rather than going to a 
menu item but, if clearing it is the goal then that surely works too.

Why shouldn't use the "Clear all automation" command in the edit menu under 
"Clear special"?

Actually, you need to switch the Track View Selector to the type of automation 
you wish to edit or delete and just select the range and use standard editing 
commands. Remember to switch back to waveform display if you want to edit audio.
