do you guys think openfiler could be a good option for production or it is

Nexenta CE may only be used for testing, not allowed for production.
If you go for a cheap but reliable SAN, look after Promise VessRAID
machines.
If you don’t want to spend any money, have a look at freenas which is
pretty nice, full
I´m using the FreeNas (freebsd) with microserver HP N40L with RAID 5 1 TB
7200 rpm SATA.
It´s pretty good, good performance and very stable!
