If you apply different colors to the helices and a sheets of a protein,
choosing Save Image As VRML gives a .wrl file that I can open in Cinema 4D.
However, all of the color is lost, and a single gray material is added to

As a fellow C4D licensee, this is an issue I complained to support about
quite some time ago. Their response was that C4D simply does not support
color-interpolated triangles (which comprise virtually all molecular
models!). As far as I know, this hasn't been solved since...
