Dear pymol users,
I want to operate a structure whose crystal structure has one molecule in one
asymmetry unit. I try to display its polymer. I loaded the structure and used
generate command in the pymol GUI interface: Ageneratesymmetry mates4A,
and then many copies of this molecure appeared
Hi Yeping Sun,
A linear polymer is likely to apparent when you look at a large number of
symmetry mates. Looking at lots of symmetry mates in cartoon view is quite
intensive and can be slow unless you have a powerful graphics card - if you
show the first molecule as 'ribbon' and then generated
Dear all,
We released PyMOL 1.7.2.1 which fixes the volume carving issue that was
reported by Justin (see below). The Incentive PyMOL installers
(http://pymol.org/download ), as well as the open-source SVN code (rev 4087)
have been updated.
Cheers,

Hi Bob,
PyMOL 1.7.2.0 has a workaround (by default) to load the asym_id into the segi
(segment identifier) field, which can hold 4 letters. The chain will still be
single letter (internal data structure limitation). PyMOL 1.6 doesn't handle
multi-letter asym_id at all.
