[PyMOL] Cartoon mode not stored in scene description?

Hi I am trying to define 2 scenes, in one the protein is represented in "cartoon automatic" mode in the other with "cartoon putty". Pymol (1.0 on Linux or 1.1b on Windows) both only draw the recalled scenes in putty mode. Is that expected behaviour? I would have thought that the cartoon mode is
