It is possible - just temporarily disable the bridge to map layer
registry before removing the layer:

QgsProject.instance().layerTreeRegistryBridge().setEnabled(False)

... and then enable it again.

You should make sure to remove the layer from the map layer registry
later when you have finished using it. Otherwise if user saves the
project, that layer will still be referenced (and loaded when the
project loads) but it will not be accessible from the GUI.

Cheers

Sounds great! Will we also discontinue hosting 3rd party plugin's
issue trackers on the new instance? (please say yes!)

We discussed this at length at the PSC meeting - our plan to move forward is:

1) Lease a new Hetzner VPS for Redmine
2) Deploy the latest redmine + the OAUTH plugin on it
3) Migrate existing content from the old redmine to the new
4) Discontinue any repos, wikis etc. in redmine except for the QGIS code base

If anyone out there is able to help with this migration process your help will
be most appreciated.

Running the newer redmine will hopefully provide a little more modern
experience whilst still satisfying the needs of those who wish to benefit from
its feature set.

[Qgis-developer] How to save the Vector Reference System with QGIS 2.16 ?

2016-08-22 Thread Geo DrinX
Hi All,

as I know, with 2.16 version, "FTools" plugin disappeared, included into
"Processing".

But, some useful function also disappeared, it seems to me, as the old
SRS PRJ saver.

:(

I wrong ? There is an equivalent, and where ?

Thank you for any info (and sorry for my bad english)

[Qgis-developer] Remove layer from layer tree without destroying the layer

2016-08-22 Thread CABO
I have added a layer to the layer tree and now I want to remove it from the
layer tree:

self.layer = self.create_my_layer()

QgsProject.instance().layerTreeRoot().insertLayer(0, self.layer)

QgsProject.instance().layerTreeRoot().removeLayer(self.layer)

But it seems like my layer has been destroyed while removing it from the layer
tree. Is it possible to not destroy the layer while still removing it from the
tree?

[Qgis-developer] Is any work being done on problems with Qlonglong fields?

2016-08-22 Thread magerlin
At least in Win7 64 bit many plugins either ignore Qlonglong fields or regard
them as text.

It is quite annoying to have to store attributes as Real to be able to work
in Qgis - especially since you have to add decimals as real 10.0
automatically is being converted to Qlonglong. And if you create a field as
short integer next time you open the shape file it is being regarded as
Qlonglong.

I am unfortunately not a programmer so I cannot participate in solving
this

As I understand it, this is fixed in master/2.17/dev, but the fix has not
been backported to 2.16 for a point release.

- is that summary correct?
- if so, will 2.16 be patched with this fix?

Thanks
