If I download the 4.1 version by ERDAS website (called ECWJP2SDKSetup_20100920.exe) and I install this SDK, then under both redistributable and \bin\vc90 there isn't NCSEcw4_RO.dll. Without this dll I get two errors by gdalinfo --formats (that cannot find it). This dll is under the 4.2 version of

I guess this problem is only in Windows version. QGIS Ubuntu and Mac OS X have ecw libraries available in packages, AFAIK. the libraries for Linux/OsX are the old ones, from ER-Mapper. That SDK has a different license that should allow redistribution. cheers -- Giovanni --
