Hello QGis User
I have two polygon shapes. The first one gives me fishing areas, i.e.,
several contiguous squares of 20' x 20'. The second shape indicates the
sediment type (mud, sand, etc.). Each type of sediment is a feature of this
second shape and they form a very irregular mosaic.
I want to
Hello,I am currently running QGIS 2.6.1-Brighton on a Mac Air, and I am having

geographic point. For example, for a geographic location I have a value for

Hello,
I’m using OSX 10.9 with Homebrew (http://brew.sh/) and I have installed GDAL

framework is not installed“. I don’t want to install two types of GDAL, so my
question is, how can I use my Homebrew installed GDAL
I wonder if it’s possible to use variables for colour values, line widths etc?
I have rule-based styling with lots of rules, and I want to change the colour
value in one place and not in every rule that uses the same symbol. I’ve been
using variables a lot in CartoCSS styling, but I really miss
Hi,
Yes, it is.
You want the Data defined properties button, which you'll see when you click
on a style (in 2.6.1, it's at the bottom of the list of style options.
The variables need to be of a specific datatype/structure for each item you
want to style. So Pen Width requires a double. Colour

Hello,
We have QGIS 2.6 running on a Windows Farm environment. We are currently
testing the installation with a few users to judge stability. We have twice
seen the following:
1. Qgis crashes or ends badly for some reason.
2. Qgis is restarted by the user.
3. The user
Hi Aaron,
Well, the bad news is that this is on the trickier end of the GIS spectrum.
It depends on the exact nature of the conversion you want to perform when
changing to polygon.

Hi,
I tried to edit a Oracle Spatial (10g) point geometry table with QGIS 2.6.1.
Finished the editing I can't see the point also if a new record is added.
I noticed that the others geometries are loaded in Oracle in the format:
sdo_geometry (2001, srid, null, sdo_elem_info_array (1,1,1),

I start by setting my project CRS.
And make sure OTF is on.
You have no choice of setting a project CRS if OTF is off.
But when I do this with files that have originated from two
different sources

Hi,
Instead of adding a new hard field to the data you may also add a
virtual field that you can then use for several data-defined
properties. That will also reflect the changes if the data below
changes. I think this should be pretty much what you want?

Hi,
When I use data defined properties, I can set the expression for colour and
width etc.
But what I really want to do is to set the variable once and use the same
variable inside multiple expressions for many symbols in my project.
So I can change the value of that variable in one place, and
Anyone know when will be available? I can not wait :)
Thanks.

You should better wait, there are serious blockers still to be resolved.

Hey!
In QGIS 2.6.1 I spent the whole day on the raster calculator for some
super-simple overlay calculations and I'm ending up in rage and fury. I don't
want to complain about the unintuitive syntax. Rather I have some questions:

Philipp,
Try setting the path(s) to the [Homebrew installed] GDAL libraries under
Raster-GDAL Tools Settings. See if that makes QGIS happy.

Hi Philipp,
Try:
brew install osgeo/osgeo4mac/qgis-28
This will install the latest QGIS, from the following tap:
https://github.com/OSGeo/homebrew-osgeo4mac
If you want to ensure it is isolated from any Kyngchaos.com install,
install Homebrew's 'python' first.
