Hi Leo,
This is a limitation of the data-defined symbology.
There is no workaround other than designing your legend in a graphics
software like Illustrator or Inkscape and importing it as an SVG into
the print composer.
Funding would be welcome to develop support for legends based on
Hi,
For me it is very strange that
x(centroid($geometry))
y(centroid($geometry))
does not work in the QGIS expressions.
There is a $x and $y - but this does only work directly on a current
feature if it is a point feature.
The workaround with xmin/ymin

Hi,
This is an anti aliasing issue that many rendering libraries have. I
doubt there is much the QGIS developers can do. It is beyond the control
of the QGIS developers and an upstream problem of the rendering in the
qt-library.
The AGG rendering library solved this issue: see
Hi Les,
data-driven symbology and labeling is certainly possible. Look out for
these small icons next to each property widget where you can either
choose an attribute column or a QgsExpression (calculation). This works
for virtually any property. If something is missing, it could certainly

Hi all,
I wonder who of the QGIS users have an interest in improving the print
composer and introducing a new reporting mode (similar to Microsoft

You can use QGIS server to do it, or UMN Mapserver or Geoserver. If you
go with QGIS server, you can use the QGIS server tutorial (Google for it
to find it quickly). If you use one of
Hi Les,
Here is an example where I combine labels with a rectangular dynamic
background for a house-nr plan (rendered by QGIS server):

Hi,
I have no idea what was possible with version 1.8. You are right, in a
newer QGIS release this is certainly possible. Why can't you upgrade or
do the project on a laptop of your own?
If you can't make it to work with the ellipse marker you may try using
an SVG marker. You can create the SVG
