The way I like to think of Preset is like Virtual Canvas: users can have
multiple combination of layers visibility and styles. Multi-style also
works with Presets (i.e. you can have Style 1 with Layer A in Preset 1 and
Style 2 with Layer A in Preset 2). So, in essence, you can replicate
Mapinfo's
To be clear though you can have composer maps with different layers using
the Layer Presets feature.

Is it possible to have more than one map window open at the one time? In
MapInfo it is useful having two map windows with different contents being
able to be displayed in the one map composer (layout) window. This is really
handy when producing graphics for reports etc. Can QGIS do this?

Hi,
I think/hope they are on the todo list. A lot of things need to be worked
out before they could be added, things like What happens when the user does
X with more
remove it.
All canvases are extents and CRSs synchronized.
Feedbacks and comments are very welcome!
Regards.

Hi,
Sounds like a great plugin. I wanted to try it on Win7 QGIS r15125. It
throws TypeError: native Qt signal is not callable non-stop after
pressing the toolbar button.
Best wishes,
Anita

Dear,
Does anyone know if (optionally geographically synchronised) multiple map
windows are / will be supported in QGIS?
I've seen some discussion on this topic on the list in the past.

Stay tuned!
