Come sistema di riferimento delle coordinate uso:
SR selezionato EPSG:4326, WGS84
Ho compreso di dover usare l'UTM ma non riesco a trovarne uno che riguarda

server machine, it points to the same connection file and it works: QGIS on the
server pc can load layers with this service parameter.

You should to define environment variables to use pg_service.conf in server
too.
Of course, the service should to use tha same name.
Test without define connection to database using "service", therefore write
host/port/databse/user& password to confirm that the connection it's ok.

progetto...ma era un progetto Qgis che "lamentava" di avere un layer
corrotto non gestito... ... puzza di bachetto

Either use PGSERVICEFILE or put it /etc/postgresql-common/pg_service.conf.
It's working well for me with QGIS 2.18.23.

Yes, I probably will have to wait till the Beaver dies and I can upgrade.
By the way, python-qgis got installed but cannot function due to incorrect
bindings I guess...

I released a new version of the plugin Offline-MapMatching. With the new
version the plugin is available in processing toolbox too and can be called
directly in python using the processing framework.
