Re: [Qgis-user] Converting to shp to gpx. Doesn't work normal with "Save, as..."

2017-03-15 Thread Laurence Béchet

Hi Alex,

I often too have to transform gpx files to or from sh files and I never
managed to make it work properly with qgis (sorry that's not very
constructive, but that's a fact).

After reading some of the answers you got, I re-tested it and I still
cannot create a file with qgis version 2.18.4 which can open with
basecamp or mapsource, both refuse to open it. Notepad++ shows an xml
file (sh file saved as a gpx). I don't know what is wrong. Happy to help
and test further but i have no idea how.

My (quick and personal) workaround is to use dnrgps. It's a free little
tool which does the trick.

Cheers
Laurence Béchet

[Qgis-user] Last Y coordinate sometimes dropped on pasted geometries

2017-03-15 Thread Martin Bain
Hi group,
I have an intermittent problem, sometimes when I copy and paste a geometry the
last Y coordinate of the pasted geometry is lost and replaced by zero.

I have seen it happen with points and polylines. When pasting multiple objects
the last Y coordinate of the each geometry is lost. It can happen when pasting
within one layer, between layers or into a new scratch layer.

All layers and the project have the same CRS (EPSG:28356).

Once it starts happening QGIS needs a restart.

Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas of the cause, or a fix other than
a restart?

Using 2.18.4 on Win 7 32 bit.

Thanks,
Martin.

[Qgis-user] Alternative labels on each iteration?

2017-03-15 Thread Tobias Wendorff
Hi there!

In ArcGIS, Mapnik and Mapserver it is possible to use alternative fields for
labeling on each iteration. This makes it possible to use abbreviations when
the full label does not fit in the map.

Is this also possible in QGIS? Perhaps even driven by Python?

ArcGIS has the nice feature to manually browse through each label variant for
label editing.

Best regards,
Tobias

Re: [Qgis-user] Coordinates in map units are different between ArcInfo and Qgis

2017-03-15 Thread Tobias Wendorff
I had a presesentation about this some years ago on INTERGEO fair. It was about
nautic maps and how to use them with a compass (sailing from Europe to America).

I am from Germany, our "Norths" are identical, but on a trip from South to
North America with a compass only would make lots of trouble.

Thanks for your ideas in this topic :)

Well some of our maps are not on True North.
Each point on the map was transformed by applying a rotation equal to the angle
between the true north pole and magnetic north .

[QGIS-it-user] QGIS 2.18.4 alias nelle maschere di inserimento dati e relazioni

2017-03-15 Thread Totò
Salve a tutti,

saluti

[Qgis-user] QGIS custom feature forms with python logic - passed in feature

2017-03-15 Thread Jen Swiger
Hello,

I hope I am asking this question in the right email list. I may ask in the
qgis stack exchange as well.

I am working off this example
https://nathanw.net/2011/09/05/qgis-tips-custom-feature-forms-with-python-logic/
and adjusting to meet my needs.

When the formOpen function is called, the dialog, layer, and feature is
passed in.

I want to edit the feature that is passed in but code like
mylayer.changeAttribute(myfeature.id(), 10, 1)
doesn't seem to be working because myfeature.id() returns 0.

What code should I be using instead to edit a field in the feature?

Thanks!
Jen

Hi Alex,

did you have at the resulting GPX file usiang a texteditor (e.g.
notepad++). While GPX is somehow xml it is quite simple to see if there
are any unusual things in it (or if the file is empty).

I hate answers like the one I'm about to give - but you might want to
upgrade to at least 2.14 or 2.18 - the "save as" to GPX works really
well in those versions - and I use it with Garmin GPS units all the
time. It seems like that at 2.12 you were still setting options in the
"Save As" Dialog.
