The new node tool takes some getting used to. When a node is selected (also a single point) then the visual indication that it is selected disappears (used to be blue in 2.18) so using the "delete feature" option didn't occur to me. I just hit the delete key.

Use @atlas_feature, e.g.

attribute(@atlas_feature, 'STATION_NAME') = "STATION_NAME"

This takes the STATION_NAME attribute value from the current
atlas/report feature, and compares it against the station_name
attribute from your "stations" layer. Be careful of the quoting here
-- the first field name, in the attribute function, is a string
literal so uses single quotes. The value you are comparing against is
a field reference, so needs double quotes.

[Qgis-user] Filter map layer based on report

2019-01-07 Thread Spencer Gardner
I'm using QGIS3 to create a report. One of my tasks is to display only
features in a map layer that match the current iterated feature in the
report. To be specific, my report body is set to iterate over a "stations"
layer and I have an layer of intersection points where an intersection
should only be displayed if it is associated the the current station (via
an attribute called "station_name").

With Atlas, this could be done by setting the atlas page name to
"station_name" from the stations layer and then setting symbology on the
intersections layer using
"station_name" = @atlas_pagename.
Is there a comparable solution for a report? I don't see any relevant
variables.

Thanks,
Spencer

Dear users,

The answers to the user question of December have now been published:
http://blog.qgis.org/2019/01/07/user-question-of-the-month-jan19-answers-from-dec/

Based on these results, in today's PSC meeting, we've decided that the 2019
grant programme will be focusing on bug fixing and polishing existing
features. So thanks to everyone who provided feedback!

We also have a new question for January: have you ever contributed to
improving QGIS? https://ee.kobotoolbox.org/x/#CSL7n2HR
The form is available in a variety of languages thanks to Carlos Rivas for
providing the platform and all the volunteers who helped with translations.

Anita

Screenshots shouldn't be a blocker, you can take screenshots using windows.
Then, if we have time, we can replace windows screenshots later.

It would in fact, be desirable if the accidental removal of the last

Hi Micha,

The Node Tool is not meant to remove features, but to edit/remove
their geometries. Your feature persists in your dataset through their
attributes and you can later use the "Add part" tool to create a new
geometry.

https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/editing_geometry_attributes.html#vertex-tool
For full deletion (data + geometry), you should use the the "Delele

Hi Bernhard,

How about multi-point layer? All the features will move/delete with the
other tools.

2019-01-07 Thread Bernhard Ströbl
Maybe the node tool shouldn't be available when editing a point layer?
Anything one may want to do with points can be done using the other
tools (move, delete part). I was always wondering why it is there
because AFAIU nodes are not individual features, they only exist as part
of a line or polygon boundary, but points in a point layer are
individual features themselves.

2019-01-07 Thread Micha Silver

Thanks to both Harrissou and Andreas for pointing out the
difference between the node tool and delete feature...
The new node tool takes some getting used to. When a node is
selected (also a single point) then the visual indication that it
is selected disappears (used to be blue in 2.18) so using the
"delete feature" option didn't occur to me. I just hit the delete
  key.

Re: [Qgis-user] After deleting points, attribute rows persist

2019-01-07 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi Micha,

hm - interesting.

I have to say that deleting features by using the node tools seems a bit
"unconventional" to me. There is a "delete features" tool, which is
meant to be used to delete features. The node tools serves a different
purpose: to remove nodes.

I am not sure it is well defined that removing a point using the node
tool should also remove the feature. It might be a valid behavior of
QGIS that it sets to the geometry to "NULL" and not delete the feature
after the last node of a geometry was removed.

Are you sure that this really worked in the past?

Andreas

For your information, from chapter 4 to 6 I have a bunch of PRs coming soon
and I will ensure these issues are addressed, if not yet done. Reason why I
self-assigned.
For the others, indeed, maybe you can give it a try. You'll find people

Some of those changes are quite small. Would you be interested in learning
how to fix it yourself?

[Qgis-user] raster image legend in map composition

2019-01-07 Thread Anabel Lamaro
Hello! good morning!
I need some help
I'm working with QGIS 3.4 with raster images of sst and ocean color. I
have imported a color palette from the NASA OC site and applied it to
the raster. That worked very well. Now I want to make a map
composition including the color ramp that indicates the values of the
variable used. I have tried from the style menu, but I can not do it.
Could someone guide me how to do it? Is there any complement for it ?.
Thank you in advance!!!

Hi Henrik,

You can now build QGIS Server without desktop, but not without X. You still
need X for PDF generation (GetPrint command).

If you are interested, I have docker configurations for QGIS Server 2.x. and
3.x based on Ubuntu and NginX server. Still struggling a bit with NGinX URL

I could share the configuration, if it helps for you.

Hi Henrik,

You can now build QGIS Server without desktop, but not without X. You still
need X for PDF generation (GetPrint command).

If you are interested, I have docker configurations for QGIS Server 2.x. and
3.x based on Ubuntu and NginX server. Still struggling a bit with NGinX URL
forwarding, but hoping to solve it tomorrow with the help of Marco B.

I could share the configuration, if it helps for you.

Hm - I am still fighting with Gitlab permissions - my repo on gitlab is closed,
because in some cases they contain internal information about our setup. Seems
I can't easily change permissions after the repo was created. On this repo I
could open permissions but couldn't find out how. Everything is greyed out

But my repo looks very similar to what Daniele just responded here:

I can confirm that X11 is required by some features like printing and maybe
some others. Also before switching to docker, on bare metal, we were using
Xvfb to provide X11 to QGIS and not a full X.org installation.

This is due how QT renders work if I understood correctly.
