Here are some screenshots with my explanation and the protocol for

It seems that the artifacts are due to no data fields that evolve during

I sorry to be so insisting on the problem, I think it is not the problem

[Qgis-user] QGIS with Garmin Glo

2020-05-18 Thread Martin Valiquette
Hi
I need help to get my garmin GLO working with QGIS 3.10.5 and windows 10 on
a Windows surface pro

Windows detects the GLO and associate it to COM3, COM4, COM5 and COM6. Why
4?

In QGIS i try all four com port but the blue led on the GLO keeps flashing.

At no time it asks a 4 digit code.

The com port seems to be at 9600 baud. Is that normal?

Am I skipping a configuration step in windows,

Ho fatto il test con la versione 3.10.1, che è l'attuale LTR.

La versione 3.4 non è più supportata da circa 6 mesi.

Mi sa che la funzionalità è stata introdotta dalla versione 3.6 un paio di
anni fa.

A presto.

[Qgis-user] problem with chapter 9.4.20 of the exercises

2020-05-18 Thread jordi badia
Hi QGIS, I'm performing the
https://docs.qgis.org/3.10/es/docs/training_manual/complete_analysis/analysis_exercise.html

in specifically in chapter 9.4.20 of rendering a vector layer.
I have installed version 3.10.5-A Coruña, and I do not get to perform
the rendering, I do not understand where the process is failing after
trying several methods. I believe that steps 1 to 15 set out in chapter
9.4.20 currently the website are out of the box for version 3.10.5.
Could someone update them? or give me some help to prove that I'm doing
wrong?

Thank you

[Qgis-user] Install Python packages on Mac with other Python installations

2020-05-18 Thread Bill Farrand
I am trying to install a QGIS plug-in (Enmap Box) to QGIS3.12 on my Mac running
Mojave and it requires several additional Python packages. My default Python
now is an anaconda version. I can disable that and it goes to the native OSX
Python 2.7. I’m not sure how to set the Mac terminal window to something where
I can install Python packages to the version of Python that QGIS 3.12 goes to
by default. Alternatively, perhaps there is a way to change an environment
variable in QGIS to one of my already existing Python installations?

Thanks…

[Qgis-user] Geometry Generator - Generating buffered points from polys

2020-05-18 Thread David Fawcett
Hi,

I am working through an exercise to figure out the best way to represent
some wooded areas in a map that I am making.

The current iteration uses geometry generators to create slightly
randomized points to fill the polygons that represent wooded areas. I based
it off of the great examples at
https://impermanent.io/2017/05/05/generative-pseudo-random-polygon-fill-patterns-in-qgis/
And, it works great!

After looking at it a while, I want to introduce some variability in the
size of the point symbols too.

I have two ideas on how to do that:

The first one is to create and populate an attribute for each point
feature, and then apply symbology rules based on that value. The challenge
is that right now, my custom function is returning multi-point features, so
all of the points within a forest poly would have the same attribute.

I am currently pursuing the second one. That strategy is to use the same
altered grid of points, and then buffer each point. I am having a hard time
figuring out how to return a layer with several multi-polygon features
created by buffering the points.

In this example, "buffer" is not defined, so the expression is invalid.

  for xOff in range(countX+1):
for yOff in range(countY+1):
  ptX = xMin + xOff*(xInterval) + rand * random.uniform(0,xInterval)
  ptY = yMin + yOff*(yInterval) + rand * random.uniform(0,xInterval)

  pt = QgsPointXY(ptX,ptY)
  point = QgsGeometry.fromPointXY(pt)

  if feature.geometry().contains(point):
  sym = buffer(point,200.0,10)
  #points.append(pt)
  bufs.append(sym)

  return collect_geometries(bufs)

Re: [Qgis-user] Export GeoPDF Mac

2020-05-18 Thread Matthew Peters
Hi Adam,

I was also interested in this capability, but hit the following roadblock -
which I would be grateful if anyone can help resolve:

The GDAL version (2.4.1) that comes packaged with the all-in-one installer for
Mac (for QGIS 3.12, 3.10. 3.4) apparently can’t support GeoPDF creation, yet I
could find no source for the more current GDAL version (3.0+) that is needed.
It appears this newer version is available for non-Mac installs, but not yet
for Mac. Anyone know differently? This effectively seems to mean that in fact
GeoPDF creation is not currently supported for Mac installs.

Depending on your needs you may find exporting to Geotiff (which does work on
Mac) as a viable alternative, though it creates larger files. For instance, if
you want the GeoPDF (geospatial PDF=not the same thing) for use in a mobile
mapping app like Avenza, then the Geotiff is a workable alternative - just make
sure to check the box to export the associated world file and then bundle this
with the tiff in a Zip before importing to Avenza.

Here are a couple related threads, but unfortunately there seems to be no
resolution yet:
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/345761/export-geospatial-pdf-from-qgis-on-mac

https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/354383/updating-gdal-to-3-0-from-2-4-1-on-mac-to-create-geopdfs-in-qgis-3-10

Hope this gets resolved in coming versions, it sure would be nice for Mac users
to have access this functionality.

Best,
Matt Peters

Dear Gert-Jan,

Yes, the broad statement was intentional. Please only submit maps if
you're fine with it.

The design will certainly be cropped because we have to design graphics
of different shape and size. Other changes may be applied as well to
ensure that the graphics go well with our overall design.

I do suppose that the design will be used as designed, and NOT

Thank you for the questions! I meant to include image size requirements
in the instructions but it seems like I didn't. I've now added minimum
resolution requirements (3000x2000px) and further clarifications to the
submission form.

Please DON'T submit finished splash screens. We need the raw map /
graphics to create all the graphics that are needed for a release
design.

Both grayscale and color designs can be submitted. We reserve the right
to decide how to eventually use them.

The form now states "By uploading your map you grant QGIS.ORG unlimited
rights to use the map. Please do NOT submit graphics which are protected
be somebody else's copyright!". If a checkbox is needed for legal
reasons, please let me know.

I'd stick with "Pi" rather than the greek character for simplicity

Hi Anita,

Great challenge for the (boring!) weekend. :)

Could you provide some guidelines for submissions?

I tried to find the image dimensions and came to 600x300 px, but that
is the splash screen size for the dev version. The 3.12 splash screen
is 1977x946 px.

Can colours be used or should it be gray scale and made green in the
style of the other 3.x splash screens?

In the announcement of the 3.12 splash screen you refer to the GIMP
file in the "QGIS graphics folder on Google Drive" but I don't have a
link. Could you share it, or share the GIMP file in another way?

Shouldn't the submission form contain a checkbox for sharing the image
as GPL2 or something else to make sure it does not contain copyrighted
material and QGIS can use it?

And wondering, will we go for "Pi" or "π" (the Greek character, I'm
not even sure the email software will show this correctly...) :)

Thanks and have a nice weekend!

Re: [Qgis-user] Export GeoPDF Mac

2020-05-18 Thread Andreas Neumann

Hi all,

Seems like you just have to be patient until the MacOS packager finds
time to upgrade all the dependencies to newer library versions.

This is also dependent on efforts to move the Mac build system from
homebrew to an independent build system - so it is not just the simple
upgrading, but the whole Mac build system needs a lot of work.

See also https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Enhancement-Proposals/issues/177

which was just prepared today to be submitted as a QGIS grant proposal.
Don't expect this to happen before summer.

Greetings,

Andreas

Hi Adam,

I was also interested in this capability, but hit the following
roadblock - which I would be grateful if anyone can help resolve:

The GDAL version (2.4.1) that comes packaged with the all-in-one
installer for Mac (for QGIS 3.12, 3.10. 3.4) apparently can’t support
GeoPDF creation, yet I could find no source for the more current GDAL
version (3.0+) that is needed. It appears this newer version is
available for non-Mac installs, but not yet for Mac. Anyone know
differently? This effectively seems to mean that in fact GeoPDF
creation is not  currently supported for Mac installs.

Depending on your needs you may find exporting to Geotiff (which does
work on Mac) as a viable alternative, though it creates larger files.
For instance, if you want the GeoPDF (geospatial PDF=not the same
thing) for use in a mobile mapping app like Avenza, then the Geotiff
is a workable alternative - just make sure to check the box to export
the associated world file and then bundle this with the tiff in a Zip
before importing to Avenza.

Here are a couple related threads, but unfortunately there seems to be
no resolution yet:

https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/345761/export-geospatial-pdf-from-qgis-on-mac
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/354383/updating-gdal-to-3-0-from-2-4-1-on-mac-to-create-geopdfs-in-qgis-3-10

Hope this gets resolved in coming versions, it sure would be nice for
Mac users to have access this functionality.

Best,
Matt Peters

Hello there. I want to export a georeferenced PDF from my QGIS
project, and I am unable to tick the box as I need GDAL 3.0. However,
my colleague is using windows (I am using a mac) and he is able to
export as a GeoPDF without any issue, despite him not having GDAL. I
hoped you could help me towards a solution. Thanks

Hi Adam,

GDAL is an integral part of QGIS. QGIS doesn't work without GDAL. So I'm
100% sure that your colleague on Windows also has GDAL. Maybe you just
aren't aware of it. If you go to the about screen in the help menu. What
does it say there about GDAL? On your Mac and on the Windows
installation of your colleague?

Also: what QGIS version do you use on the Mac? GeoPDF is relatively new
and you need both a new GDAL and a new QGIS. But normally you don't have
to worry about GDAL. If you use the new MacOS all in one installer, GDAL
should be installed automatically with it. With the older way of
installing QGIS on the Mac you still had to install it separately. Both
approaches have advantages/disadvantages.

Greetings,

Andreas

For 4.3.0a:

CFLAGS="-DACCEPT_USE_OF_DEPRECATED_PROJ_API_H -O2 should help:

https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/blob/master/gdal/docker/alpine-normal/Dockerfile#L248

You can also build against the development repository of Spatialite:

https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/blob/master/gdal/ci/travis/ubuntu_1804/install.sh#L27

(you could probably drop the "fossil update 90180e065d" which must have
been a

workaround against a regression, and the other peculiarities), so mostly:

fossil clone https://www.gaia-gis.it/fossil/libspatialite
libspatialite.fossil

mkdir sl

cd sl

fossil open ../libspatialite.fossil

./configure [...]

Yes, I've tried to maintain a communication channel with the developper,
but with

moderate success only. The development is not abandoned, but only at a
rather slow

pace.

I don't think you can without some surgery in the code base.

FWIW, the WFS provider depends on it for caching (could potentially be
replaced by

something else)
