Re: [Qgis-user] Convert .shp to CAD, with attribute values as different layers

2024-02-13 Thread DelazJ via QGIS-User
Hi Chaz,
There was a bug that hid that in the past (fixed in next release) but if you
scroll the dxf dialog to the right, you'll get an "output layer attribute"
column that helps you select whether a layer should remain a layer in the dxf
or split across one of its fields.

Re: [Qgis-user] Batch Processing Tool for Wedge Buffers

Hi
Krishna Ayyala, are you sure the batch processing is what you need? You mention
you have a single file. In your original message "creating wedge buffers
automatically", Andrea suggested to use the algorithm in the "default" mode,
setting the fields as arguments through the data-defined button next to each.
No feedback yet. Have you tried his suggestions?

Re: [Qgis-user] Missing Raster Calculator in QGIS 3.34

Hi,

> the entry in Raster menu will open the Processing algorithm instead

Looks like the Raster menu still points to the old C++ Raster calculator.
I thought the Processing algorithm would replace the old C++ tool but now,
instead of 3 raster calculators (gdal, c++ and Processing python) that already
confused some users, the refactoring leads to 4 raster calculators where the
new Processing ones _almost_ cover what the old C++ one actually does. Should
we not remove that one?

Great point! This is where IMHO QGIS official documentation should have a
say and play an authoritative role, with up to date, clear and meaningful
instructions.
This topic of configuring QGIS with python environment is to some extent
"discussed" at [0] and [1]. Do these pages meet the conditions to play that
authoritative role? I'm not that sure, given how recurring the topic
arises, but TBH I'm not versed enough in Python to be fully credible.

Re: [Qgis-user] DXF Export symbolLayer

Hi,
Sorry if it has been said (I did not read every thing) but if I'm not wrong
there is an option to use field values and get split layers in output dxf
file. This is under the "Output layer attribute" column [0]. Unfortunately,
there is a bug (for many versions now) [1] that hides by default that
column in the dialog.

[Qgis-user] Expression to sort by multiple fields

2022-12-05 Thread DelazJ via Qgis-user
Hi QGISers,

I struggled and failed to find a way to use QGIS expressions functions in
order to select features based on sorting on different fields. I played
with aggregates, arrays, maps but couldn't find how to control sort order
(and imbricate it). I finally generated virtual layers to do the work but
would really love to select and not extract.
The need in SQL is something like:

select somefields, afield, st_length(geometry) as longueur, geometry
from mylayer
where longueur < 10*order by afield desc, longueur asc*
limit 5

Any help would be more than welcome.
Thanks in advance

Kind regards,
Harrissou

No, You don't need to reselect: Given an existing line, take the vertex
tool, move close to an end point, click on the '+' and you can extend it
with as many segments as you wish (
https://docs.qgis.org/3.22/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/editing_geometry_attributes.html#basic-operations
- adding vertices).
The issue here, and I confirm Andreas' first message, is that the vertex
tool ignores the tracing option, you need t click every new vertices.
Another issue I saw is that I spent a lot of time to find the tracing
button: it's available on the snapping toolbar, but not on the snapping
Options widget which opens (and I didn't enable the toolbar). I still have
issues to understand why we need two interfaces for these options, with
tools that are in one place and not in the other.

Hi,
And here's the feature in the changelog (

afaict, it affects the whole layer and not pixel by pixel.

On a kind-of "off topic" request, I'd also be interested to see examples of
expressions playing with raster functions.

Hi Mats, all

Just to let you know that some of the unclear/confusing statements in the

version is available at

and will be pushed to the docs website later tonight (UTC).
Hope that helps you get through or at least makes things less confusing.

Hi,

different combinations. It works with polygons when common borders need to
be dissolved.

Nicolas, can you elaborate a bit more on the issues you have with the
"Dissolve + Multipart to singleparts" solution I provided few days ago. At
which step is it failing? The dissolve does not merge joining features into
a single one? I don't know the function internals but I'd expect it to work
this way and if not, would sound like a bug to report IMHO...

What about using "Dissolve" and then "multiparts to singleparts"...
There's also the line_merge function, if you want to go the expression route.

Hi,
These are quite different features I can't see how they would stay in the same
tab, despite I understand your point.
Anyway, note that the multilinear options are disabled because these
functionalities are not YET implemented for curved labels. See

Re: [Qgis-user] Fwd: error on counting inside a map

2021-06-03 Thread DelazJ
Hi Dario,
You want two filters: a field not being null and features being visible.
But none of your expressions indicates that.
Naming parameters could help you avoid falling in this trap (read the tip
just above this section

in the docs)
try with
aggregate( *'LAYERID*','count',"*KEY-FIELD*","*SPECIFIC-FIELD*" is not null
*AND* intersects($geometry,map_get(item_variables('Mappa1'),'map_extent')))

Hope that helps,
Harrissou

 Hi everyone,

I'm working with a layer which I need to filter in a WMS GetMap request
by adding a BBOX query in order to retrieve only a subset of information. I
suppose that the right way to accomplish this is by adding a kind of CQL
filter, but I cannot find the proper manner.
 I tried with this:
 Filter= LayerWhichINeedToFilter : "nameOfGeometryAttribute"
 'BBOX'(2841625.00, 8882591.00, 2962275, 8971491);

Is there a right way to do this?
 Thank you

sometimes hold "meta" discussion on the future of the documentation.

Re: [Qgis-user] colorramp starting from white

2020-06-15 Thread DelazJ
Hi,
Trying to quickly change the starting color of a default continuous ramp, I
realize that changing the first color is not enough, you need to
change/remove the intermediate ones also, in order to have something smooth.
So, question: why do we need stops in a color ramp that is supposed to be
continuous from color A to color B? Could the default continuous color
ramps not only have a start color and an end color? Nothing else?

Re: [Qgis-user] error "Cannot zoom to selectet feature(s): No extent could be determined.""

2020-05-13 Thread DelazJ
Hi,
Another option: In the layer's properties --> Source tab, could you press
"update extents" and/or "create spatial index"?
If nothing changed, probably reload the layer to see..

Hi Brunos,
See in the Layers panel: right-click the layer, there's an option to change
the datasource by default

Re: [Qgis-user] New QGIS windows packages (was: GeoPDF creation greyed out)

2019-11-12 Thread DelazJ
Aaahh! When i update a couple of hours ago, I got a message about a
probable missing gdal 2.4 (sorry I did not remember the exact content) at
the end of the installation. Then qgis-ltr-dev does not seem to launch
(either the .bat or the .exe). I get a
*Could not load qgis_app.dll*
*Windows error: the specified module can not be found.*
and an invitation to check the qgis-ltr-dev-bin-g7.env file for correct env
paths (I don't know what I should see there: i compared with qgis-bin and
qgis-dev-bin and saw no obvious culprit to me )

I thought it's due to gdal2.4 missing, now I'm lost.

Hi

Jürgen, just to be sure i understand what's happening, that means that 3.4
LTR (as well as anything < 3.10) installed through osgeo4w would not work,
right? Given that gdal 2.4 is replaced with 3.1. Not a big deal. Just want
to be sure the standalone would be my single and last resort.

Hi,

Confirmed here too with osgeo4w: 3.10 has greyed geopdf but master shows it
fine. Issue imho is that qgis 3.10, identified as qgis, is built with gdal
2.4 (as 3.8 was) while qgis 3.11 aka qgis_dev is built with gdal_dev (3.1)

Hi Matt,
In the vector layer properties, categorized symbology, at the bottom right
of the dialog, you have an "Advanced" drop-down menu with options like "*Match
to saved symbols" *or *"Match to symbols from file"* that should help you
achieve what you want.

anything missing in the former (and maybe Paul could find some answers)
and, for the latter (which is horribly outdated), it's the usual lack of
skilled people to provide necessary documentation. Because some parts of
the docs are specialized, they require advanced users to help us update. If
we are giving a txt (or whatever open format) file updating the section,
I'm happy to push it and update that page too.

In the Joins properties dialog, you can remove the "custom field name
prefix".

[Qgis-user] Select/extract by location algorithm with same input layers (un)expected results?

2019-08-31 Thread DelazJ
Hi,
I don't know whether it's an issue to file or a design so i'm asking
beforehand.

If you use select by location algorithm with the same layer as source and
comparing, and select a predicate like "within" for example, it returns all
the features since it considers a feature to be within itself. Logical but
this means that you can not rely on this tool to check whether there are
features in the same layer that are within others.
This applies to most of the other geometric predicates, making them useless
in this context.

Question: Should the algorithm not skip same features comparison when we
use the same data source? Or are there other tools for features comparison
if the layers are the same?

2019-08-17 Thread DelazJ
Hi,
As suggested by the error message, I'd say in the Processing settings, ie
menu Settings -> Options -> Processing -> General.
That said, finding the invalid feature or running the repair geometry
algorithm beforehand could be a better solution than disabling anything
related to the invalid geometry.

Re: [Qgis-user] Rank based on attributes for field

2019-07-25 Thread DelazJ
Hi,
Depending on the version you are running (i don't know if all the functions
are in 3.4, otherwise you have the "array plus" - I think- plugin),
*array_find(
array_reverse( array_agg( "$area",order_by:= "$area") ), "$area") +1 *might
do the trick
array_agg will create a "list" of the features surface in your dataset,
ordered from the smallest to the largest
array_reverse is obvious I think
and array_find will return the order in which the current feature's area
appears in the list. The index is 0 based.

Hope that helps,
Harrissou

A direct change to the source file (

with a pull request for merging would be the most practical way but we'd
also welcome changes within a text-like file or in this thread.

Re: [Qgis-user] Date formula in Layout label

Reading the help of the format_date function, the second argument should be
a string, and I'm not sure that "-MM-dd HH:mm" is necessarily read as
string in this context. I actually don't know what it's read as.

Unfortunately, this is "normal". Nothing amazing if I may. While 2.18 files
can be opened in 3.4 there's no guarantee for backwards compatibility, and
there's lesser since the API break (from 2.x to 3.0)
I'm not sure you can do anything with your project on 2.18.
The alternative is to stick to 3.4 and describe what were the issues you
faced and get them fixed (if QGIS is the culprit).

Hi Jürgen,

I know that we don't have black box and this was certainly not the
appropriate term to use. Sorry. Still, most of the users have no means to
read the code but need to use any of these options. Without understanding
what they do, it becomes simply a click-click business (not empowering
them). So it could be nice we shed some light on them (maybe something for
a grant proposal?).

So there are some historical reasons. Unfortunately, this does not seem
enough to clarify things and wouldn't deserve a place in the docs (I may be
wrong!). If anyone has more details, please tell us. I think it could be
worth clarify and document the differences if they are clear enough or
merge the tools in the future if possible, avoiding confusion for users (we
should not have kind of black box ;) in QGIS).

Re: [Qgis-user] Query cross-table "similar" time stamps?

2019-05-20 Thread DelazJ
Hi Bernd

I did not understand that you were looking for a way to create a virtual
layer. Virtual layers require SQL instructions and in this particular case,
I think you'll need window function (I don't know if supported by the
SpatiaLite provider in the backend and don't have time to give it a try).
This is quite a different thing.

>From what I understood you wanted to be able to join both layers. This is
what the expression I'm suggesting is meant to do:
#. Open the birds layer attribute table
# Use the field calculator button to add a new (virtual?) field (it will be
used store the track id)
#. Populate the field using the provided expression

attribute(get_feature ('track_points','time', aggregate(
layer:='track_points',

aggregate:='max',

expression:="time",

filter:="time"< attribute(@parent, 'time'))),'fid')

#. Apply

This expression is a kind of WHERE clause so basically we say *update
bird_layer set yournewfield=fid from track_points where
whatisinget_featureparenthesis*. @parent indeed is a imho hidden variable
that refers to the feature in the bird layer. [0]

What dialect is it? QGIS' (highly inspired from sql... (and python?)). I
don't know if it has a proper name and there's no better doc as far as I
know than looking at the functions' help in the expression dialog and
practice. You quickly get the logic. You also have some samples in the user
manual [2]. And probably in some tutorials out there.

Yes single or double quotes are important and have their meaning [3]

Then you can do whatever you want with this field (label, symbolize with
geometry generator [1] eg line connecting track_point and bird, the usual
join of layers...)

PS: I did not test your data since the date formatting I had in the
temporary layers I used was the same as in your picture (that i only viewed
after I sent my first reply)

2019-05-18 Thread DelazJ
Hi Bernd,
Hum.. interesting. Assuming you have two layers: *tracks (id_track,
date_track)* and *birds(id_bird, date_bird)*, the idea is to get the id of
the highest among the date_track(s) lower than the date_bird for each bird.
Am I right?
I gave it a shot and i think i have some working expression. Here I display
the matching track id in birds labels

attribute(
  get_feature ( 'tracks',
  'date_track',
  aggregate( layer:='tracks',
  aggregate:='max',
  expression:="date_track",
  filter:="date_track"<
attribute(@parent, 'date_bird')
  )
 ),
  'id_track'
)

I used temporary layers with datetime field.
Now, without sample of dataset to actually see the date formatting issue
you were afraid of...

Hope that helps,
Harrissou

Hi,
This line

* File "C:/Users/Celso/AppData/**Roaming/QGIS/QGIS3\profiles\*
*default/python/plugins\**qgiscloud\**qgiscloudplugindialog.py", line 808,
in __wkbTypeString*

points that the issue comes from qgiscloud plugin. So first, either
uninstall it or run qgis without plugins to confirm the origin. And report
the issue on the plugin repository in case the authors are not following
this list so they get it fixed.

Re: [Qgis-user] locating layer

2019-04-03 Thread DelazJ
Hi Mike,

You don't need to look for it or display it; it's there by default: the
status bar is the bar at the bottom of the QGIS dialog, showing coordinate
box, scale, magnifier... point 5 of the outdated screenshot at
https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/introduction/qgis_gui.html#qgis-gui
At its left side (not visible on the screenshot since it's from 2.x and not
up to date), there's a textbox with a magnifier and "Type to locate
(Ctrl+K)" text within.
Just type in *l layername* or simply the layer name and you should get what
you want.

Re: [Qgis-user] problems MAC and ecw raster files

2019-04-01 Thread DelazJ
Hi Azzura,

It's not about GDAL itself but a plugin that is not embarked with GDAL and
that you have to add: ECW plugin v2.4.0-1

(or the 2.3 version depending on your GDAL version). You should find it
under the GDAL Plugins section at
https://www.kyngchaos.com/software/frameworks/
And you need to install the Intergraph sdk version mentioned next to the
download link.

Hi,
I'm neither sure I understand what you want to do but you can give a look
to the locator bar from the status bar (
https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/introduction/qgis_gui.html#status-bar).
It helps you find a layer in the layers panel or find features (using the

Re: [Qgis-user] Interesting anomaly with the snapping toolbar

2019-03-21 Thread DelazJ
Hi Tyler,

It's not a bug. A 3.0 feature that may not look obvious at first sight.
This button indicates the advanced configuration, hence those tools are
hidden since they are enabled on a layer basis. Press that icon and select
the "Open snapping Options..." at the bottom of the drop-down menu and you
get a dialog with the options available.
Pressing that icon also allows you to switch to the "all layers" or "active
layer" configurations which both show the tools you are missing.
Do not forget that snapping is a project property, reason why the configs
of this file is propagated to files that derived from it.

Harrissou

At this point, the dialog expands new options in which you may need to
indicate the PK and the geometry fields.
And then press on "Load" to have layer and features in the application.

Are these options not visible? Or do you simply skip these steps in your
feedback?

I'm a bit disappointed by the number of replies. I'd have expected more
answers (everybody uses plugins, right?)

For the next question of the month, I'd be interesetd in something
regarding the docs and its usage. Some rough ideas to polish for the survey:
1- What is your first source of information on QGIS features: SE, QGIS
lists/user groups, local forum, QGIS doc, web browser, social network,
others... (to sort by frequency of usage) - Here I mean when they want to
learn something not hear about something
2- If/When you use QGIS doc, does it answer your needs? Yes, no, i don't
use (or we can graduate: always, often, rarely, never(?)...)
3- How often do you use the QGIS Doc?
4- Suggestions for improvements or other comments... (on what they miss or
think docs should be/do)

Now that we are releasing the 3.4 docs, it should be fair to know whether
people do refer to the docs, use them and get feedbacks (critics or
expectations for the next round).

Hi,
See
https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/expression.html#function-editor
(step 2), ie in python/expressions folder of the user profile directory
which depends on your operating system (see

I think that, up to now, most of the people that reply are the same that
often discuss in the dev list, that contribute to the software development.
Not really the opinion of the "user base" and I think that it's still good
to hear their voices: As a lambda user, what are the plugins you would
recommend to others if they want to do things that QGIS does not natively
do? This is how I'd define "featured plugins". So for me, yes, asking more
feedbacks for the base is still of interest.

About the noise of mispelled names, I don't know how (no further discussion
has been held yet) but maybe we can provide a drop-down list based on
plugin names in our database?

Re: [Qgis-user] Featured plugins: nominations

2019-01-24 Thread DelazJ
Hi,

Given that tags are, if i'm not wrong, declared by authors, the number of
tags to filter the plugins may be enormous (though it's already possible to
filter by tag clicking one in the cloud).

Having main groups to categorize plugins sounds a good idea. I think the
"easiest" would be to:
- set some "authoritative" categories
- have a new entry in metadata and each plugin author will set the
appropriate class(es) in his plugin

All that said, the plugin website infrastructure relies mainly on the
effort of two persons so if improvements are to be done, I'm pretty sure
that they will happily welcome anyone willing to help to structure and
implement them.

Harrissou

Re: [Qgis-user] Featured plugins: nominations

2019-01-23 Thread DelazJ
Hi Paolo,

Thanks for raising this.
I remember a previous discussion about what a "featured plugin" is and
ended up that it's somehow subjective.
So here are my subjective (but not complete as some are already mentioned)
list of plugins that really help me in my daily work:
- RefFunctions : It has
some spatial functions that really help to link features from different
layers, in a different and imho simpler logic than default relations
functions.
- Plugin Reloader : A
must-have for anyone that is trying to create his own plugin, great
complement for the Plugin Builder. I don't understand why it's still tagged
"experimental".
- and probably more subjective as it's mine: MapsPrinter
: allow to export multiple
print layouts in few clicks (without opening any). Currently you have to
open each print layout before you export it.

I can also see that in the current featured list some plugins are not
available in QGIS 3: itemBrowser, Copy canvas to clipboard, Layer board,
QuickFinder, ScriptRunner. I guess some functions are natively covered in
v3. Wonder if, with 3.4LTR, we should not put focus on 3.x compatible
plugins and remove these ones?
Another thing is that the Plugin Builder is named Plugin Builder 3 in QGIS
3. I'm not sure this is consistent.

Harrissou

2019-01-09 Thread DelazJ
Hi Janneke,

I guess you are talking about
https://github.com/janneke-qgis/QGIS-Documentation/pull/1 which is
unfortunately a pull-request against your own branch and not the upstream
one. This is a trap we all fall in at the beginning and mentioned at
https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/documentation_guidelines/first_contribution.html#share-your-changes-via-pull-request

What you have to do is also explained in the page I linked above (if ever
not clear, let us know, we'll try to improve it) but in short:
1. Go to https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/pulls
2. Press "New pull request"
3. Click "Compare accross forks" and select your repo in the head fork drop
down menu and then the your branch (janneke-qgis-patch-1 in this case)
4. Press "Create pull request"
5. And you are done!

Re: [Qgis-user] After deleting points, attribute rows persist

2019-01-07 Thread DelazJ
Hi Micha,

The Node Tool is not meant to remove features, but to edit/remove their
geometries. Your feature persists in your dataset through their attributes
and you can later use the "Add part" tool to create a new geometry.
https://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/editing_geometry_attributes.html#vertex-tool
For full deletion (data + geometry), you should use the the "Delele
selected" tool, with a red bin.

Harrissou
