[Qgis-user] reduce resolution of an image in qgis

2022-06-23 Thread carlos h via Qgis-user
Hello, I have an NDVI image that has a pixel of 4 centimeters, that is, 16
square centimeters.

I have 2 doubts:

1. What method can I use to generalize the NDVI image to 1 square meter in
pixel size?

2. When generalizing the NDVI image to 1 square meter per pixel, what value
does that new pixel take? the mean value of all pixels in 1 square meter?
the maximum value of the pixels? etc, I ask this because if the original
NDVI image has a pixel of 4 centimeters (16 cm2), in 1 square meter there
are more or less 625 pixels, then what pixel value does it take if it is
generalized to 1 square meter? the average? the maximum value?

Thank you very much

Re: [Qgis-user] Generate the bearing in the attribute table

2021-04-09 Thread carlos h
Hello, I think I made a conceptual error, it is not a polygon, but a
polyline that has "n" number of vertices.

https://ibb.co/vsGF22W

I think that when you see the attached image you will understand what I
want, what I want is to generate the bearing in the attribute table.

Thanks

Re: [Qgis-user] Two versions seem to be installed. I only want 3.10.13

2021-01-10 Thread James H. Romer

Hello Charles Dixon-Paver,
Thank you very much for your very thoughtful and clear response to
my query. I hadn't even realized that OSGeo4W64 was more than just a
tool for downloading a version of QGIS and that it is now sitting in my
computer for me to use. I haven't fully digested all of your suggestions
and I'm sure I will have more questions when I have done so. But for now
could you please explain what "starting the program with the relative
batch file. e.g. qgis-ltr-bat" means and why you recommend it? Why
"batch"? By now you may be starting to realize that in addition to being
new to GIS and new to qgis, I'm not very computer-literate (whatever
that means). Best, Jim Romer

On 2021-01-10 8:24 AM, Charles Dixon-Paver wrote:

Hi there,

The OSGeo4w installer provides a number of options for adding AND
removing the installations from the advanced installation interface[1].

You can review all the installed options and remove/ add multiple
versions which can exist alongside each other, usually pretty happily.
The installers will all be available from the "C:\OSGeo4W64\bin"
folder. I recommend starting the program with the relative batch file.
e.g. qgis-ltr.bat

You shouldn't actually need to remove a particular version. There may
be many other options available depending on what's
installed, including, for example, qgis.bat, qgis-dev.bat,
qgis-dev-g7.bat. Launching from the bat files will help ensure that
your path and environment variables are set correctly.

In terms of what's available from the Start/ Programs menu, as far as
I know the available/ default shortcut will be placed in your
"%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" directory. I'm not
entirely sure what gets added to the registry (if anything), but you
can always create your own shortcut and add it there to access it from
the start menu.

Note I'm assuming you have admin privileges on your machine. I hope
that helps.

My operating system  is Windows 10. Before I started, I
uninstalled all QGIS that was on my computer. I then downloaded
the 64 bit OSGeo4W Network Installer and ran it, choosing Advanced
Install and typing "qgis-ltr-full" into the box. But I ended up
with QGIS 3.10.16.2 installed and I could not figure out how to
uninstall it. I then tried again and this time I appear to have
been successful in downloading and installing QGIS 3.10.13, but I
cannot figure out how to open it. Here is the present situation:
3.10.13 is in "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel but
3.10.16.2 is not there. In the Start menu QGIS 3.10.16.2 and QGIS
3 appear. When I click on QGIS 3, QGIS 3.10.16.2 opens.

Please help. Jim Romer

Hi, I hope you are well!

Why do these columns appear when creating the 3d model?

Can it be fixed?

Hi there! Usually the crops are not isolated from each other, so I already
tried OTB methods in segmentation QGIS and it doesn't work.

Thank you

If you have RGB images, you could use EGI=2*G-B-R and a threshold to
segment plants (if they dont overlap in the image), then count it.

But since the plants in your images overlap and other areas are green,
too, this might be difficult (you need to find something to segment
trees based on other features, e.g. to segment the "star"
structure/centers of the trees).

Re: [Qgis-user] Circular Lines in QGIS

2018-09-26 Thread Wolstan H M Dixie
I don't know but am guessing, but aren't those lines not just *any* circular
arcs, but the actual great-circle paths (the shortest line between two points
on the surface of a globe) plotted onto that map projection? Some of them
towards the edges aren't circular.

On 26/09/2018 21:34, C Hamilton wrote:
I had a user request Circular Lines in the Shape Tools plugin and they gave the

I don't know how one would do this type of drawing. Does anyone have any ideas?
It draws the lines trying to avoid overlapping other lines in a very pleasing
manner. Doing this is probably outside the scope of the Shape Tools plugin, but
I just wanted to ask to see if there is a relatively easy algorithmic way of
drawing these types of lines between two points.

Thanks,

A minor British GIS called GGP - standing for GeoGraphic Processor.

So how fast is everyone else's redraw? Is it instantaneous or appreciable?

Hi all,

I am a new user so please be understanding! I am shocked by the redraw

takes 10 seconds to redraw [British OS Mastermap vector data, 64 bit

Well I think the historic centre - ie the oldest part of the city - generally
the oldest and largest place of worship or centre of administration - cathedral

[Qgis-user] Georeferencing images

Thanks everyone - I discovered the Plugin! However it takes a bit of

[Qgis-user] Georeferenced raster images

2018-07-20 Thread Wolstan H M Dixie
Hi - I am a new user struggling to pick up the fundamentals - I have
successfully imported a LIDAR raster layer and hillshaded / pseudo
coloured / contoured it.

My problem is that I want an image of a topographical map  behind it as
a base map to provide context.

The GIS I am familiar with had the facility to take an image eg TIFF,
JPG, PNG, georeference the four corners, and import it into a layer so
that it was matched to the vector map. This seems a simple and I should
have thought common requirement eg you want to put a TIFF of a historic
map behind the modern map you are creating.

I cannot see any way of doing it - am I being obtuse?

Any help appreciated

Wolstan

Hi Christoph,

Thanks for the response.
I will take two steps back and explain what I am trying to accomplish
rather than where I am having trouble.

I have been a professional C/C++ developer, but have never used Python.
(I could learn to write python scripts if required, but they are not
obvious to me - yet)

I have road crash data where, for each road crash, I have a field for
date and a different field for time. (The data came as csv, I put it
into postgis, but for Time Manager have saved it to a shp file)

The data is updated every couple of months, and starts in 2001.

When looking at road crash data I generally consider crashes in 5 year
groupings. I am wanting to use Time Manager to show the 5 year
groupings, annually.
(There are times I may want to change the length of the groupings, so I
want something where I can easily change from 5 years. I am currently
dealing only with calender years)

Using the 5 year groupings, this is I want from Time Manager:

Frame 1 - road crashes 2001 to 2005
Frame 2 - road crashes 2002 to 2006
Frame 3 - road crashes 2003 to 2007
...
Frame 12 - road crashes 2012 to 2016

My understanding is that for this the Time Frame Size is 'one year' as
that is the interval between each frame. (Correct me if I am wrong)

I have seen a number of sample files, and my intent was to create
5 copies of the data, and offset them to cover a 5 year period in each
(annual) frame.

To make the situation more challenging, I am also thinking of doing a
heatmap rather than just showing individual points. I do not think I
can create a heatmap using multiple layers.

My fall back solution is that I create a new table / layer that contains
the primary key from my crashes table, the coordinates of the crash and
a year in which to display it. Because each crash is being displayed in
5 different years, this table would have 5 entries for each crash,
but Time Manager would step through a heatmap for each
year.

I was hoping I would not need to create a new table.

Thanks again!
H

[Qgis-user] "Time Manager" - Offset units

2016-09-13 Thread h
I have a couple of questions about the "Time Manager" plugin - firstly
Is this the right place for me to post them to?
This is the first of a couple of questions I have, so please redirect me
to the correct place if this is not it.

My first question is concerning the "Offset" field when adding layers.
I have a dataset I want to step through in years showing data for
current year and previous year.
I can do this, by setting the offset for the 'previous' year
as 3200. I am guessing that the offset is in seconds (there are
about 32 million seconds in a year)

* Is my guess correct that the offset is in seconds?
* Can I change the unit of the offset (I would like to use years)?
* If the offset can only be entered in seconds, I will improve my
approximation of 32 million seconds, but what do I do about leap years?

Many thanks,
H

I did an 'in accordance with numpy website' install of the latest
version of numpy, and installed it in my home directory so as not
overwrite the system installation. As I am not a python developer I
had to install build dependencies (the 'cython' and
'python-setuptools' packages) to get the build to work.

It all now works, so I am happy :)

I mostly use Linux, but installed qgis 2.14 on a windows machine. I
have been using qgis 2.12 on this machine, so it works.
When I installed qgis 2.14 the anti-virus software said 1.atcorr.exe is
an infected file, and quarantined it. (1.atcorr.exe is part of grass)
A quick web search indictaed that this is a known issue.
If you are using windows, has your 'anti-virus' stopped grass from
working?

[Qgis-user] [OT] Municipal open data sources

Hi,
This is off topic, but I am hoping someone here can help. Some time

I remember things like trees, garbage collection areas and street

I was interested in Australian councils but the site was global.

I can no longer find the website. Does anyone know of a website that
makes such information available?

[Qgis-user] Help with multiple selection for actions (Run Feature Tool)

2016-01-04 Thread h
Hi,
I keep thinking I'm a noobie, but perhaps have moved beyond in some
areas.
What I have done is added my own action in the action list for a vector
layer. The action passes a 'primary key' attribute to a local web
server which creates a custom report on the feature selected.
This all works, and was surprisingly easy to set up- thankyou.

What I now want to do is be able to select multiple features, have all
the 'primary key' attributes passed to the web server, allowing the
production of reports based the features select. I have a number of
things I'd like to try, but frequency diagrams is one example.

From reading the help I think the "Run Feature Tool" should work on a
collection of features, but I cannot figure out how to select the
features.

Some help and direction would be greatly appreciated.

(I am running "master" on the latest opensuse x86_64)

 sudo apt-get purge qgis*
 sudo apt-get autoremove
 sudo apt-get autoclean

 sudo apt-get install qgis python-qgis

[Qgis-user] Newbie question re installing qgis on linux and qgis - development version

2013-12-15 Thread h
Hi,
I am running linux - Mageia 3 (intel x86-64) and want to run qgis
version 2.x, and use the OpenLayers plugin. The mageia repo only has
qgis 1.x.

The Linux install instructions on
http://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/alldownloads.html#linux
indicate that the way for me to install is through the repo. My repo
has 1.x and I want 2.x so I am looking for an alternative.

I have downloaded the qgis source files and done a build on the current
development system. I now have a developer version of qgis which I can
run. My problem with this is that the OpenLayers plugin
(version 1.1.2) crashes.

Can someone please advise me on how to install qgis 2.x on a linux
system when the repo only supports qgis 1.x?

Should the OpenLayers plugin work on the development system (It does
not look like an internal plugin to me, but I may be wrong)?

Should I contact the plugin's developer?

Is there a qgis 2.0.x rpm or deb file I can install?

Is there a way to download the source files in such a way that I get
the latest release version (which will run the OpenLayers plugin?

Help appreciated!!!

What I would like to do is save a layer as dxf. I have done this

In qgis can I export / save to DXF and get labels (I would also

What is the plugin called?
What repository is it in?
Is it still available from a repository?

Can someone please step me through the process of installing software /

[Qgis-user] QGIS 1.5: Profile tool fails with GRASS rasters

2010-03-29 Thread Hove, Mike H.
Using QGIS r13052 from KyngChaos on OS X 10.6.2. If I load a QGIS 1.4 project
containing GRASS rasters, the profile tool (version 0.2.1) will work with the
GRASS rasters. If I load a new GRASS raster or remove and reload an existing
raster, the profile tool displays Profile, Please select one-band raster
layer in a dialog. In line 67 in the profilePlugin.py, layer.bandCount() is
returning 0 instead of 1 for a newly loaded GRASS raster.

I modified the profile plugin code so that layer band count could be either 0
or 1. It now runs, but is very slow. Statistics show a pixel size of 1 instead
or the raster cell size. I assume the problem is caused by recent changes to
the GRASS raster provider. Anybody else having this problem.

The charts are NOAA BSB rasters.

Posted the same questions to the grass list and the response was positive:

WIth r.in.poly you could digitize the area of interest, then use

With a small script you could generate the ASCII polygon file

Standalone gdal will not do it, especially if you want to automate the process

The only issue for me is that I must learn each step with each application.
Hence I went the easy route first to see what can be done with qgis.

There is a very good new program out for creating tiles, maptiler.org and need

with sailboat so I keep interested in this stuff.

 - I believe Qgis doesn't use the S57 sublayers and that's why nothing gets
displayed. Is there any chance that I am right? If I am right,

Your most likely correct.

 I would like
to help with the implementation for this kind of problem. Can anyone in the
dev team give me directions on where to begin (I have spent some time in
the source and API of both Qgis and GDAL and feel I can contribute here...)

Perhaps a good start would be reviewing the submitted material above and then
following the directions and advice of the qgis development team.

Best of luck

[Qgis-user] error message

2009-01-02 Thread Chris h

Was wondering if someone can decifer the following error message please:
---
Warning: QgsCoordinateReferenceSystem::getRecord failed :  select * from
tbl_srs where parameters='+proj=longlat +a=6371200 +b=6371200 +no_defs'
Warning: QgsCoordinateReferenceSystem::findMatchingProj will only work if prj
acr ellipsoid acr and proj4string are set!...
Critical: QgsCoordinateReferenceSystem::createFromWkt -- theWkt is
uninitialised, operation failed
---e0f

How this comes about is as follows:
1. download an NOAA grib file
2. gdal-info shows the file is not corrupt and properly configured
2. gdal_translate creates a sample.tif and sample.aux.xml file holding the
meta data
3. loading the sample.tif as a raster into qgis produces the above generated
error.

Is there any way I can correct for this?

gdal = 1.6.0beta2, released 2008/11/12
gqis = 1.0 Kore
os = ubuntu 8.04

 Howdy Chris,

Can you explain a little more about how QGIS is not finding coordinates
on rasters ? What/which tool are you using to collect coordinates? What
format of raster are you using and what projection is it in?
**Note that on the fly projection is not supported for rasters.

Never had this issue before. So this one is new for me. Installed 0.11.0 from
the download page on a fresh install of ubuntu 8.04 Loading NOAA rasters
which have worked seemlessly in the past, all I can do is load the raster and
move it on the screen, I cannot zone or use any of the other features
associated with that tool set.(the one with the blue hand) Looking at the
terminal output I get

Warning: No valid projection. Unable to set map units

but I also get this at boottime when I boot from a terminal. As Ive seen this
before and ignored it as the application worked fine. However on this latest
install when loading an NOAA raster I get the following in the terminal

Warning: Creating Warped VRT.
Warning: No valid projection. Unable to set map units.
Warning: No valid projection. Unable to set map units.

OK..so I build it from source (stable) and build the test suite as well. I
understand the test suite is not current but shows the above error message
identified in the subject.

In not really sure whats going on here as I've not run across this error
before and used qgis for at least several months now on NOAA charts.

WIll check the build to make sure I didnt miss something but thats unlikely
with the detailed Install Notes and ccmake.

What did you try exactly and what was the error message?

OK...let me try that as the original install was as follows:
libqgis1_0.9.2x1_i386.deb
which required gdal
then
libqgis-core0.10_0.10.0-3_i386.deb which results in the incompatibility.

Leaving libqgis out seemed to do the trick. However the program does not start
with the following packages installed:
libqgis-core0.10_0.10.0-3_i386.deb
libqgis-gui0.10_0.10.0-3_i386.deb
So looking at the packages contents does not reveal an executable ie: qgis

The packages available via launchpad are the following
libqgis1_0.9.2x1_i386.deb libqgis-gui0.10_0.10.0-3_i386.deb
libqgis-core0.10_0.10.0-3_i386.deb qgis-plugin-grass_0.10.0-3_i386.deb
libqgisgrass0.10_0.10.0-3_i386.deb

I did not install the grass packages as I have no need for them at present.

Any guidance..:)??
