I tried Fabrizio Diversi's compiled version (thanks for making it available, Fabrizio) of UQLX, but still no luck. Attempting to run qm just gave the error message segmentation fault. Re: [ql-users] Qdos, PE EasyP4
The download was from Dilwyn's PE connection but even using the PE stuff that came with my latest Qpac2 update (1.42/Oct 03) I can't get a stable system running on my QL/Aurora. Qdos +Qpac2 is still needed sometimes because SMSQ/E doesn't handle my DD floppies properly on my ED drives. (PG-2.01, WM-2.01, HR-2.29/Oct 04). I have experienced problems myself when using ptr_gen 2.02. In my case, reverting to 2.01 helped (I was using Aurora MinisQL, JM ROM, SGC 2.49, Qubide). I found that I could use ptr_gen 2.01 with the wman and hot_rext which normally came with ptr_gen 2.02. I did send emails to Marcel and Wolfgang at the time, but I thought it might just have been my particular system. I have left v2.02 on my website as I thought some people might be able to use it. Usually, when someone reports a problem, I just mention I had problems with v2.02 which were fixed when I went back to a previous version. In my case, the problem was that if I tried to EXEC any program under the JM ROM, the machine locked up. It went quiet after I reported the problem, so I assumed it was just a problem on my particular system, which has always caused all sorts of problems when I tried to run the gold card SMSQE on it. The aurora is just a second system for me (QPC2 being main system of course). -- Dilwyn Jones -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Latest release of PE is always here: http://www.scp-paulet-lenerz.com/smsqe/Add1.html Maybe it's newer, who knows ;-) I don't... I'll try to make a new one next weekend. Wolfgang This is v2.02 or ptr_gen, like on my website. I wonder what with the background drawing etc if the original Sinclair QDOS ROMs have now reached the end of their useful lives? As long as we have a ptr_gen/wman 2 of some description to allow wman2 programs to run, that's possibly the best we can expect now since v2.01 seems to work. -- Dilwyn Jones -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Re: [ql-users] Qdos, PE EasyP4 Compatablity
I see when I assumed it was a hardware incompatability problem I should have complained vigorously. This just demonstrates how important it is to have backward capability and if this is impossible a message telling you that it will not run on your hardware. This is exactly the philosphy that George Gwilt uses as you will find out if you run Gwass on a 6808 or 6810 machine. The same applies to his new Sudoku program. In net peek it tells you if it cannot disassemble if you do not have a 68020+ processor. However if you are trying to find out if the QL is worth investigating problem like this only convince you that it is not worth bothering. - Original Message - From: Marcel Kilgus [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, March 20, 2006 11:10 PM Subject: Re: [ql-users] Qdos, PE EasyP4 Bob Spelten wrote: This message is for anyone involved in the development of the Pointer Extensions, Qpac2 and EasyPointer. (Probably Marcel again) Go figure! Now that the PE for Qdos is up to version 2 standard I wanted to see if I can make Suqcess run under Qdos again. Version 1.19 did work there but version 2 was strictly SMSQ/E so far. As far as I know the story, there has been a v2 PE available for download for months that was completely broken. I mean, totally. And I probably wouldn't even know about that fact if I, at one point, hadn't tested it personally on QemuLator and noticed that it is broken. I did fix the problems I encountered afterwards. So this all begs some questions: - is the stuff on download still broken or were all my fixes incorporated - or, the other extreme, are the files so new that they may be broken /again/ (breaks can happen when infrastructure in SMSQ/E is changed and the PE code is not adapted accordingly). - if nobody had reported any problems for months, as was the case in the past, nobody seems to use this stuff. [ql-users] Deleted file recovery
Hi, all. Could someone kindly recommend the best program (ideally PD) to batch undelete files from a QL floppy which has most of the files deleted. I know one needs to make a guess as to the executable storage size, and also there are programs which allow manual restoration a file at a time, but putting the two together (i.e. guess the size, and plod through each file - I have several disks), is there something that is more automated?
