[Ql-Users] R: Toolkit II v2.31

2017-03-31 Thread d . santachiara
Hi Marcel,

Also from the other Italian side - the ones living in Italy, sorry Fabrizio
:-) - we would have supported the idea to keep the network code on the ROM
version leaving extra code not needing the ROM timing on RAM. Still there
uare sers using QL with standard interfaces who night be interested in such
version.

On a slightly different subject in our discussion it came out there would be
some need of betatesters especially for the old and less used hardware
configurations (especially wrt emulators) to avoid loosing some
compatibility like it happened for the DD drive support on SMSQ/E for Gold
Card, SGC an Aurora.

Cheers

Marcel,

please don't do it, your name is always a clear sign of quality software !
Making the Server (Fserve) external to the rom is a suitable solution, if
possible.

Whilst on this subject - does anyone have any contact details for Phil
Borman - there are a few things it would be nice to include in the QubIDE
driver. There is also the problem, that whilst the source code for the
QubIDE v2 ROM was released, the v2 GAL code required to use that ROM code
does not appear to be available anywhere!

[Ql-Users] QL Italian meeting - just a glimpse

2016-11-21 Thread d . santachiara
Hi All,

The 13° Italian Sinclair QL meeting is over. I needed 24hours to breathe a
little bit as everything was fantastic but I needed a small break from these
intense days.

I have to thank all the people who attended the meeting either physically in
Modena (we were 9 - most of them coming from >200 Km far) or via WebEx
videoconference. Thanks to all the people who would have liked to attend
either physically or via WebEx and that couldn't make it with regret:
families, work and life bring often higher priorities. Special thanks also
to people who did not manage to attend but who contributed with ideas and
during the meeting preparation (posters, leaflets and so on).

Just to give a quick outlook, in the morning Italian session in addition to
the people attending in Modena, we had two Italian users connected via
web-ex actively participating (i.e total 11),. Instead for the afternoon
English session three users from outside Italy connected via web-ex actively
participating at the discussions, in addition 6 persons from Italy or abroad
connected via WebEx in listening mode only. Which means 18 people overall in
the afernoon.

We had really nice talks on many topics. Mille Grazie to Jan Bredenbeek,
Marcel Kilgus, and Urs Koenig who have been really kind for their
appreciated contributions to the discussions. We talked about their story,
past projects, QL meetings around Europe, Fidonet BBS, ZX81, Giro d'Italia,
MIST, but we also talked about ongoing and future projects like Urs and
Giorgio QL distribution packages. I really feel in debt with Jan, Marcel and
Urs for having found time to attend and having provided such a valuable
contribution.

This was the 13th Italian QL meeting, first one being in Gardone Riviera
(1989, even if not quite 99% sure) actually some more gatherings took place
maybe with slightly different naming (QItaly club, Beginner's club, Garage
meeting at my parents' house...probably others). Personally speaking I have
attended them all, at least the official ones. And since 1993 I organized
with the help of many other friends all the Italian meetings. The nice thing
is that every time I feel the same exact sensations both during and after
the meeting which is nice as I am not anymore a young boy since quite some
time (I am 46).

That's all for the time being, more detailed reports will follow in the next
weeks, we also took pictures and video so sooner or later most of the
information will be shared with everybody.

Kind regards

Davide

Hi All,

Less than 72 hours for the 13° Italian QL meeting which will be held next
Sunday 20th of November - http://www.sinclairql.it/

So far there are still "seats" available for the English web-ex users who
would like to attend to the English sessions. As we have no presentations
from outside Italy the subjects we will cover will be 100% from the Italian
community:

- Presentation of latest version of QL distro "Black Phoenix" from Giorgio
Garabello
http://www.hunggartorino.it/ql/black-phoenix-the-ql-reborn-from-the-ashes/

- QL Software preservation program and Internet BBS from Simone Voltolini
https://sinclairql.wordpress.com/

The English session will tentatively start around 14:30 and I plan it should
last around 1 hour as minimum. Anybody interested can contact me privately
by email and I will send latest on Saturday the web-ex link and information
for access via PC or smartphone/tablet

[Ql-Users] Ciao Adelchi

Yesterday Adelchi Moscardini passed away. I think none outside Italy knew
him as he participated mainly to the Italian QL meetings. He was 93 years
old and till quite recently he was still active with his QL stuff. Since
almost thirty years ago he did a lot of SuperBasic programming which mainly
used for himself like preparing football pools coupons (named Totocalcio in
Italy) which was something he did for a local lottery office for many years
since 1990. Everything was done on a QL including printing. For sure the QL
and the programming helped him to keep his brain healthy despite his age (he
was still driving at least till two years ago). As he lived in the last
years in my town I had many chances to help him keeping in good conditions
his QL equipment (he used both super goldcard + qubide QL + QPC) or
supporting him sorting out problems. It was always a pleasure meeting ad
helping him.

foto)?

Grazie
