What I did on the I/O cards that passed through me was remove
the metal
locating strip, and file the cutouts which screwed onto the D plugs so

I loosened the nuts and found enough play in the metal strip to be able
to slide it a couple of

Great - looks like the real problem is found.
Sounds like your case is way out of spec.
Maybe a case for moving the studs a few mm nearer the back. I assume

It seems the mainboard is not perpendicular to the case back panel. It
is close enough to enable the lug on the card's metal
Hi all,
Last update then I'll be going quiet for a while on the membrane front.
The construction method has been decided, and I'm now looking at design
issues. I want to make it a painless operation to remove the case from the
base, and have everything easily pluggable.
One suggestion is to
Hi Dave,
The Aurora connector IS different. I'm not knowledgeable enough in electronic to tell
you what type it is. (The pins are sticking out of the PCB, two rows of 10 pins???) I
even think that on most Aurora the connector was not installed because nobody uses it
! Most people use their

Alternatively, I might just leave well alone now I've got it working
again, and tell the cat to tread lightly near it, instead of thundering

Hi all,
I've just spoken to Tony Tebby. He agreeD, in principle, to make
SMSQ/ Open Source.
We do have to find somebody to act as a sort of registrar, though,
to make sure that we have a coherent development.
Anybody wolunteering?

Ah, interesting. What means in principle? And what is the commercial
status supposed to be?

Indeed a disappointment, but nice to have some certainty over the situation.
For those not up on the whole GDI thing, here's a quickie explanation...
GDI printers have an engine and a little memory, but not much else - the

If you go to Marcel's website there is a program to use the 'Filter'
option in QPC2 which IIRC processes text to output as Postscript for
such printers.
Oops, wrong program. This is a program which runs in SMSQE for
conversion of ASCII to Postscript, written by Richard Urena, ported by
Marcel.

Indeed. I should wait some minutes before replying next time ;-)
I was thinking of a program Marcel mentioned on thsi list recently as
being written by someone else to run as a QPC2 printer filter in
Windows. Can you remind us Marcel?
Yes, exactly.

No, mix up. MPS can be used as a *QD* printer filter, this has nothing
to do with QPC2's filter capability. In order

I'm not so sure about that, due to his strong opposition against the

If itis Open Source, there will be no more commercial status.
The in principle refers to the fact that Tony said he would do it if we find a

I'm, of course quite wiling to help in any way I can, even with the
