Yeah, for me it was just pretty clear that he was not actually using
the high colour mode, not matter what the reason.

Simple check for this: if after entering "disp_colour 2" (it's BTW
really "2", not "1", my mistake in not spotting this in an earlier
mail from Peter) the command "print disp_type" still doesn't print 16,
then you don't have the extended driver.

It's usually always the basic things that get you :-)

Actually the first thing I verify with most customers is that they are
really using the software version they *think* they're using. It's
almost a somewhat insulting question, but it has happened too many
times that somebody got a new QPC release from me but the problem
still existed because the version they actually start (usually through
a link) is a different one buried somewhere else on the hard drive!

According to the private mails you've sent me you are trying to run a
Text87 version for Mode 16. Mode 16 doesn't even exist until IIRC
SMSQ/E 3.02. The driver that supports Mode 16 is a commercial
offering, done by me. It is *not* included in the general SMSQ/E
release.
It has just occurred to me that he may be using a 'standard' SMSQ/E to
run this. He does have the colour one but I net he installed the
standard one by mistake when I rebuilt his Aurora a while ago. I have
been talking to him about this all week and I had always worked from the
assumption he was using a colour version. Damn!

There was a patched Text87 version for Aurora *QL* mode. This has
nothing to do with MY patch, in fact my patch has to *undo* the Aurora
QL colour patch in order to work.

I have no idea where to get a Text87 version for Aurora in *QL* mode,
if that's what you're really looking for, I've never been involved in
that.

SMSQ/E 2.99 will not help you.

[ql-users] Aurora SMSQ 2.99 or previous

2005-08-25 Thread Peter Fox
I have been trying to use SMSQ 3.03 on the Aurora and I cannot get Text87
to work with it.

If anyone has a copy of SMSQ 2.99 (or previous) for the Aurora that they
could let me have I would be most grateful.

I am shortly departing on holiday so IF I do not respond to your reply
please forgive me.

TIA & Regards

Peter
