Hello,
I'm using qmail toaster with fedora 6.
I have configured POP3 and IMAP for my company mail server and I'm doing the
first tests right now.
When I send an email from a company account with same domain to the [EMAIL
PROTECTED] account I've created with the same company domain it
Hi Guys
I’m interested in doing a test restore of our toaster backups to a new machine.
This is so I can test if, in the event of a real disaster the restore can be
done fairly smoothly etc, but will also give us a kind of hot spare, so to
speak.
What I’d like to know is this:
If I
Hi There,
Are they by any chance using your server as the outgoing smtp server? I've
had that error crop up, when an unauthorized user is using our server for
the outgoing server. They either need to use authenticated login or their
ip needs to be added to the tcp.smtp file if this is the case.
I had huge spam leak. I had 5 email in queue. And grepped and
deleted all spam messages (leaving me with 96 legal messages) from /mess
folder.
Now (as I expected) I get something like :
warning: unable to stat mess/18/350952
for all 5 emails. I know it will go away eventually ( isnt
Hi,
I have all the company IPs in tcp.smtp and it looks to work fine but the
problem is from outside the company.
I use authentication for this [EMAIL PROTECTED] user with
/home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw
on /var/qmail/supervise/smtp/run and /var/qmail/supervise/pop3/run.

It's probably the client side with the problem. The ip's in the tcp.smtp
file are the ip's outside the company that you want to allow to relay mail
through your server.
I'm assuming the problem is as follows.
External Client A from outside has email configured to relay through your
server,
Hi Craig,
I send the messages from this account on the internet, [EMAIL PROTECTED], to my
company mail server.
The other message I receive from the mail server is this:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mailhost2.adacom.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to
What have you got listed in the /control/virtualdomains file? This will
list all the domains that you have configured on the server. If the .net
domain is not listed in there, then it may not be configured correctly.

Marcos,
Given that this is a new installation, might I suggest that before you
go any further you start from scratch using Centos 4 instead of Fedora
6. Fedora is a cutting-edge product, whereas Centos is built for
stability. In a mail server you are more likely looking for stability
than
Warren: It is too late to change. I'm running out of time to set this new mail
server and I have no time to test new platforms but thanks for the suggestion
anyway.
Craig: The contents of the control/virtualdomains file are
company.com:company.com
company.gr:company.gr
Have you tried vdeldomain and then rectreate it? It all looks ok, but
obviously there is something not working as it should. Try deleteting the
domains and recreating them if you can. What happens with the newly created
domain?

Hi Mark,
Something seems not to be happening correctly as was
expected for the rcpthosts file, though I have not yet
established.
As a temporary solution to that you can remove or
rename the rcpthost file eg rcpthost.bak and you will
be able to send and receive from any domain. It worked
here.
Hi warren,
I had installed it on CentOS 4.4, and had experienced
the same problem till I removed the rcpthost file then
it worked. Using webmin they is an option of not using
the rctphost file. Though it should have worked with
all localdomains enlisted in the rcpthost as done by
Mark.

Benedict: I think if I remove the rcpthosts file the server will act as an open
relay, right? Which is somethinng I don't want to do, of course:-) (Correct me
if I'm wrong)
Craig,
When I tried to remove the vdomains with vdeldomain I have this message:
# /home/vpopmail/bin/vdeldomain

It sounds like it might be easier, to

Ok,
let's asume I delete the domains and start creating them again.
How should I create the first, let's say default (.com), domain? I created all
of them (.com,.net,.gr) before with vadddomain...

Basically, all I did on mine is what you have done.
vadddomain -r domain.com (-r random password)
That's all that you need to do, then
vadduser -r [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and send mail to that user.
If it fails and causes problems at this point, then qmail installation may
be corrupt or it has
If your installation is QMT, you can use the web interface
to do all that configuration, add or delete domain and users as well.
Have you tested that?. I hope you have Vqadmin-Toaster as one of installed
packages.

Ok,
I corrected that message. It was the company_gr and company_net tables in
vpopmail database that were still there...I drop them and now I created the
domain.com normally.
This was for the .com, but now how should I create the other virtual domains to
be alias of .com?

psw: toaster
then delete and start adding there and test.

Hi to all,
We encountered a server failure last night. The server has been up and
down for the 8 hours but is now working correctly.
I appologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Well yeah. But since i didn't know anything better to do FAST then it
seemed good enough solution.
To get it fixed we wrote a shell script what would look into /info and
/remote folders to get the corresponding message id and would check
against /mess folder. If it doesn't match it would delete

Thanks go to Treeman for pointing out a problem.
In QMT-ISO-1.1 it's not installing qmailadmin for some reason. It has
something to do with the new version downloaded. It will install
manually though. I am working on a respin of the ISO now to correct this.
In the next respin (1.2) I will be
Hi List,
Today I upgraded my qmail-toaster on suse 10.1 . The update worked fine but
since Mails to be delivered stay in the queue.

Same thing happens on CentOS 4.4 - just found that out last night.

uninstall mdadm. Hopefully it works.

Yep. The guide on the wiki (I think it's on there) for a backup MX is
almost exactly the same.
