I'm looking @ my toaster and there is not 587 listening? Is there something I
have to enable to get it to listen on that port?
Thanks

Look under /var/qmail/supervise/ at see if you have the submission dir
, then cd on it and try to execute the run script manually,
Y, I think I may have an older version, I'm probably going to upgrade this

It seems that my mail server was attacked yesterday. I have already
blacklisted the IP. My question is, how can I prevent this from
happening? I do not need smtp access to my server remotely and i do
not have remote users. All e-mail transactions are done through
webmail and/or in my internal
Not quite the same as the vpopmail slamming you are getting, but I
eliminated nearly all the brute force efforts at local login accounts
via the use of BlockHosts:

Maybe there's something similar, or an extension for it, to include
vpopmail slamming?
Can I remove the word 'toaster' from any and all files which might show up in
headers to lessen the amount of information going out to potential spammers?
For example, I see
Content-Filter: maildrop-toaster
in the headers. That would give someone more information than I'd like them to
I restored my email to a new server, the imap works fine, but looks like the
smtp/submission/pop3 have problems with the following error:
@400047752c4e0ec34a0c /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd: error while loading
shared libraries: libkrb5.so.3: failed to map segment from shared object:

This post and the suggestions that followed turned out to be a real lucky
coincidence.
I had recently set up via the QMT iso 1.3 a mail-server for a old school
mate of mine. The setup went off fine. The only problem being that those in
the organisation using wireless based internet access
i do not think qmail supports tcp_wrappers that is used by the system.
it uses its own tcpserver so blockhosts will not work for me.

If you have a mailserver your sender-domains should be reachable for replies.
The replier comes from external. isn't it?
If you dont care for responses I doubt you want to have a spam-box, not a
mail-server.

Found the fix, raised the softlimits in the /var/qmail/supervise/smtp /pop3
/submission.
Raised to 1 fixed problem. Do I have other issues to make me need
to raise this?
Thanks

Yes, DK and SPF are both working perfectly. I'm still not getting through to
yahoo or hotmail. I was sent some thoughts on what to look for but have never
resolved the issue so still not 100%.

Few people can e-mail yahoo or hotmail without problems.
Isn't there something we could do as a group? Those involved in the
development, maybe contact yahoo, find out once and for all how they want
things structured so that future users don't go nuts like I nearly have :).
I badly need to
