Anyway, if you have any users with iPhones (and the way it's selling,
who won't), you can set them up and they will get all the benefits of
push-mail that Yahoo claims to offer (but their implementation is
pretty flakey).

I don't own an iPhone, but can you tell me where the plugin comes from,
and possibly some more details? I'd like to put something on the wiki on
this (I have a Treo 700w myself), and I'm sure I'll be needing this in
the future, since one of my clients just activates 38 iPhones.

Thanks.

v1.06 didn't work for me (Mail.app crashed repeatedly immediately
after starting) but 1.07-pre3 works fine.

does it mean no more configuration made on server side?

No, it does not preclude proper configurations. It simply means that
an IMAP client is able receive push-mail, based on the state of a
folder/mailbox changing on the server's side. It simply means that
the client does not need to poll. It is dependent on the polling
interval set on the server's side, for the IMAP-IDLE response. I have
mine currently set for 10 seconds, and it performs well.

interesting.. I am thinking only Blackberry-related device/server
can have push mail

So did I - seems Blackberry enjoyed that misconception :-)

Hi Harry,

Only observation is that Courier-IMAP appears, nevertheless, to be
more resource intensive than, say, Dovecot which I have a running on
a separate server with Postfix - that would seem to be just the
nature of the beast.

I have been testing Dovecot on the side as a possible replacement for
Courier in QmailToaster 1.4 branch. In my testing, Dovecot does use a
lot less resources. I've gotten it to work with some success, but it
doesn't behave quite right with existing folders. Dovecot also doesn't
have quota support, so this fails to work with the SquirrelMail quota
plugin. If someone can give me some techniques or info for integration
with QmailToaster + existing folders, perhaps we can eventually move
in this direction. Otherwise, I'll skip it since I don't have the time
to get this all debugged and pushed out for 1.4.

Thanks,
Erik
