[qmailtoaster] DJBDNS installation errors
When I attempt to run the fdr50-djbdns-localcache-install.sh script it functions properly until it attempts to install the djbdns RPMs. The errors: [EMAIL PROTECTED] i386]# rpm -Uvh djbdns-localcache-1.05-1.0.2.i386.rpm error: Failed dependencies: caching-nameserver conflicts with djbdns-localcache-1.05-1.0.2.i386 [EMAIL PROTECTED] i386]# Yet rpm qa | grep djb returns nothing. When I do yum list | grep djb it also returns nothing. Somehow it thinks its installed but its not. Any ideas? Thanks
Re: [qmailtoaster] DJBDNS installation errors
I believe that would be the inverse of what you thought it was. 'caching-nameserver' would be the package in place that is in conflict. It's part of the default for FC5 with DNS. Re: [qmailtoaster] DJBDNS installation errors
you have also installed bind out of the distro ? deinstall bind first ?! RE: [qmailtoaster] DJBDNS installation errors
I think you have installed bind: bind.i38630:9.3.2-20.FC5updates and when you don no hold an own zonefile it would work like an cache DNS. Please check it out do deinstall all the things like bind* and try again. by the way, why you want to use dbjns , is it so much better then bind ? I use bind and domainkeys work also I have run the script which uninstalls bind: rpm -e --nodeps bind bind-chroot caching-nameserver I rebuilt the djbdns rpms with: Rpmbuild --rebuild --with fdr50 djbdns-1.05-1.0.2.src.rpm Then Rpm -Uvh djbdns-localcache-1.05-1.0.2.i386.rpm This of course errors with my previous error. I searched the following: rpm -qa | grep caching rpm -qa | grep nameserver rpm -qa | grep caching-nameserver All return nothing. Re: [qmailtoaster] DJBDNS installation errors
Christian, It's more of a preference thing. I prefer to use bind. Some people prefer to use djbdns. I recommend that people use what is most familiar, as a caching nameserver is recommended for proper caching of dns requests. This assists in DomainKeys, RBL's and various other functions of the QmailToaster. FYI: The QmailToaster Virtual Appliance I built uses bind.
