Subject: [QUAD-L] How about something positive...?
Peace be with you
My son is having a really hard time with the fact that once he is out of his
chair in bed that he can't get up. Mind you he has an automatic adjustable bed.
Wants to try sleeping in his chair. Needless to say...I will not let that
happen if I have any sayhas anyone else had this
What level injury is your son? How much can he move? Biceps? Strength? Type
of bed?
I'm c5-6. I have decent biceps but no triceps and cannot transfer myself. I
have a queen size bed that is pushed next to my bedroom wall. I sleep on the
side of the bed that is flush against the wall so
I,m a c-6 --there is no way I can get out of bed--we have an overhead ceiling
lift to transfer into my powerchair or showerchair --I don't have an adjustable
bed though. Once I'm up- I can manage pretty well all day, even if my wife is
gone. ( there are some quads that can transfer) it depends
Greetings Nancy,
I'm surprised that your son doesn't realize that his condition is quite
normal, once he gets into bed and lacking the strength to position himself.
Kind of like a fish out of water. The answer or resolves are not simple
but must be tried n errored. Quads are so
I went through a spell four or five years ago with those very same symptoms. It
felt like the ceiling and all four walls were closing in on me. I eventually
found myself with full fledged panic attacks. It was horrible. I actually did
sleep in my tilt chair for a few nights. This went on for
Thanks Dave,
That might want to explain why several quads I know insist on having a fan
blowing in their faces at night. Perhaps we just discovered another
Quad-Quirk.
Best Wishes

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I
may be; for I have also learned from experience
Pardon the pun in the subject line, but I was wondering how we might go about
having a very frank discussion about sexuality and SCI online.
I know that some people on this list would be interested in the subject of
sexuality while others would not, and might even find it offensive. We lost
I figured that the reason too. But, last I knew this list was for all things
sci related, trust me the boys is a very non-graphic, PG way of
asking/answering the question!
Oh no comment on the subject line/content LOL

This list is a channel to discuss all things concerning quads, and as a
woman I was not offended by the recent subject and if it is a subject I am
not interested in I just delete the post. Often times however discussions
about particular places and problems from you guys has been helpful to me
in
It would also be possible for us to have some sort of a code word or symbol
to include in the subject line (e.g. SEX) so that those who wanted to avoid
the discussions would either ignore the posts or automatically delete them.

Yeah, this is ridiculous, I mean there might be a lot of subjects some of us
wouldn't like to go in to, so you just delete those messages
and problem solved, sex might be one of the most important subjects for some
people here so why should they be restricted. There are
a lot of subjects that I
I wouldn't mind a code word, but come on, is that really necessary? aren't we
all adults here?
Ok, so Rated 'R' maybe? LOL

I seem to be the only woman weighing in here, not that it should matter ...
just sayin'.
What the heck is all the fuss about??? Sex is a quad related subject. We are
all human, sexual beings who have have to deal with the fact that our bodies
now function differently. Why not discuss sex
Yeah Lissette! I agree 100%.

All I can say is How can anybody living with quadriplegia be so thin
skinned to get offended over a little sex talk with the things we go through on
a daily basis. Whats the point of a dicussion list that you cant discuss
anything on?
