HI
Smurf,
Sorry it has taken me a few
days to get back to you and the others that had some questions, but right after
posting, I came down with a heck of kidney infection. Why is it with us that when
we go in with one problem we can end up with a kidney problem in the end ??
After suffering through bactrum and cranberry juice is it finally getting
better.
Over the past 2 years I
have had 7 rounds of botox injections in both legs. The first 2 were
very painful and I wore dynasplints on both legs and the splints were nothing
but torture.
I changed doctors and
he also changed my medications that was helping my pain so I agreed to attempt
Botox again.I was wearing lidocaide patches on my legs for pain
control andit did seem to help, so when he did the botox injection he
added lidocaine . He was concerned about my legs because he couldn't get
any reaction on the emg, so he was having trouble finding active
nerve activity. The last session I went in he said he wanted to take
a pen and make points whereI told him I hurt and he would shoot deep
trigger points. He injected very deep areas. I was told I didn't
want to see the needle. I had no relief at all from that session.I
am very glad I tried , botoxbecause I did get some relieve at times, will
I go through it again, I don't think so. When I was in the hospital they
put pneumatic compression boots on me that felt like I was getting a gentle
massage. For the first time, it made my legs feel soft and removed pain, but the
bummer is they cost on the low end $800 neither Medicare or Medicaid pays
for it. I have read where it says Medicare will, but 2 representatives
says no. I have located where , it should have been approved 2001,
so I am not through discussing it. If I decide to buy it I will go
directly yo the company and not the area corner store to cut out the middle
man.

Re: [QUAD-L] BODY CHANGING 6 YRS POST

2004-12-13 Thread B. Kimberlin

I am almost 10 years post injury and it seems some things change continuously. I did experience problems with my catheter and occasionally still have problems with it clogging up for some unknown reason. Going five years without a bowel incident is pretty darn good. I could say that I went a long also, but every incident I have had has usually been the result of my bowel regimen not being completed properly. Over the last few years I have noticed that despite being only a couple of pounds heavier I am having more and more difficulty trying to prevent (what I now believe to be the inevitable) Quad gut. Just when I think I have about everything figured out, something changes and I am learning all over again. On the brighter side, maybe this prevents boredom.

Hi Anthony,

I'm Smurf and I'm 20 from the UK. Like with yourself I was injuried at a young age, I became a para when I was 18 after a combination of a car accident and a fall.

I always keep the introductions short and sweet, but I look forward to speaking to you soon!

Hi all, I have been having bad bladder spasms and pain for
three monthsmy urologist tells me I just have to live with itmy
present urine culture showed 3 types of bacteria. He told me oh well your
always going to have bacteria present with a supra pubic or any indwelling
catheters. I can understand that to an extent, but in my 7 years post injury
this is the third time I have suffered this much for long periods of
time...Have any of you gone to a 2nd urologist for a 2nd opinion???

Dan,

I am a c5/6 incomplete, 4 1/2 years post quad. Every time I would
need to be catheterized or if I had a indwelling catheter I would end up with a
UTI 100% of the time. I would be put on antibiotics and thenmy
bowels would get real loose and I would have nothing butmesses. I
use acondom catheter now and I have not had a UTI for approximately 3 1/2
years. Anytime I even think I'm having the start of a UTI, I try to drink
at least 90 ounces of water as fast as I can and then I go to bed and urinate
all night. When I wake up I am UTI symptom-free.

Have you tried wearing an abdominal binder? I find it holds it in pretty well, but there is still a little bulge. :-)BillyNichole Rohling [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

OKAY - A QUESTION FOR THE ONES HERE INJURED FOR
AWHILE. DID YOUR BODY GO HAYWIRE QUITE SOME TIME (YEARS) AFTER YOUR
INJURY?
Yes. Gravity (especially after 50) is not kind. My waist has
expanded, my formerly "well-toned" pecs are sagging and my chin grew a
twin. I hate gravity. LOL
