I think getting cathed is a hassle for everyone, but yes I must admit it
must be harder for a female. I hated every 4-6 hours finding a place to get
cathed. Then I started releasing a bit of wee, so then came the condom cath
that would blow off. Finely I tried the SP (SuperPubic) cath. I loved it,
such a freeing thing. I could never go back.
Greg

of course, the final blow, is the ongoing matter of catheterization. Guys
have it so much easier.

RE: [QUAD-L] To Dave and Greg about their Powerchairs

2007-03-06 Thread Greg
Hi,

My TDX5 has been pretty good, the local dealer has been slow. I still need
some minor adjustments I'm waiting for. I like the speed 7.5 mph, not the
fastest chair, but fast for mid-wheel drive. I'd never go back to rear-wheel
drive unless it was an outdoor chair only. Front or mid-wheel drive is so
much better indoors. (Though takes getting use to.) Plus I can turn 360
inside my mini van. If mostly inside, I'd stay away from rear-wheel drive.
Plus, a lot of mid-wheel drive chairs can get up a 2-3 inch curb. My
Permobil was pretty good after a few early problems. Great for indoors,
yard, and park, just not very fast. If you need power elevating footrest,
get a center post, not individual foot rests. They are big and clunky, and
have to be plugged-in and un-plugged every time you take them off. Big
hassle. At least on the TDX.

RE: [QUAD-L] To Dave and Greg about their Powerchairs

2007-03-06 Thread David K. Kelmer
Hi Danny,

Yes, I got a Quantum 6000 in June, '06. I really like the way the chair
feels under me. I did have custom seating put on because of my right leg and
part of my hip being removed in '89, but the way the chair responds under me is
what I mean. I have Tilt, Recline, and a power auto leg adjustment for just
one leg, with just two power buttons and a joystick to control it all, it works
fine for me. I can get about 6.5 MPH and have made a 4 mile trek with power
left when I got home. It has front suspension casters that make getting over
rough terrain nice. The only problem I've run into was while I was in the
hospital the batteries didn't get charged, and I had to have a friend pull the
battery pack and use a car battery charger to recharge them. It just may be
this charger that I have, but as long as I don't let the 'charge indicator
lights' get to red, this charger will recharge it okay. The dealer has taken
all of my calls, and talked us through pulling out the
battery pack. I give it an overall A+. On the web site there is an
Interactive Product Demo on the yellow strip to the right of the bottom of
the pic of the chair that is useful.

Hi W-

We will rent ramps to anyone in the United States and how we handle
shipping is we issue a call tag and charge for shipping to and from the
user. When you finish the rental contact us and we will send the return
shipping label so all you have to do is put the ramp back in the box and
ship it back to us.

I have been suffering with an upper respiratory infection that invaded my
lungs, but I am slowly but surely coming out of it. To say it has been a
struggle is a bit of an understatement; it's more of a battle. Anyway, I hope
I didn't miss too much while I was away (three weeks and counting), but I have
not had the energy or the ability to dictate. Right now my voice is still in
and out and there is really no hope that I will be able to get through the 340
e-mails on the quad list alone.

Hopefully I will be back to read every e-mail very shortly.
Quadius
PS I haven't had an illness which has infected my lungs since 2000. Almost 7
years without no problems.

2007-03-06 Thread DAANOO
Hi Dave,

Thank you for the information about the digital books, I had never heard of.
. I hope they add Kansas soon. I guess our state is slow. Ha ha

I'm glad you're keeping a positive attitude, but you strike me as a person
that has a positive attitude anyway.

You will heal in time sometimes it just seems like much longer, when we are
in bed.

Keep your faith.
Dana

Hi Dana,

I'm doing really well, but I know that it's important for me to stay in a
positive mod and be patient. I will be getting the wound vac next week so
that
should help.

This is what States the Unabridged Libraries cover now, but they may add
more later.

Have you tried contacting the National Library Service for the Blind and
Physically Handicapped (NLS), a Division of the Library of Congress? They are
who connected me to the Unabridged Libraries. They are at:
_http://www.loc.gov/nls/_ (http://www.loc.gov/nls/)

If you can't find a place to read try going to LibriVox Librariy. They
have a good selection of books. _http://librivox.org/newcatalog/_

I am so sorry about your abscess and having to be down. You're always so

was down for six months for a sore where the underwear goes or diaper maybe an
inch or so up on the left side so I had to stay on my right side most of the
time. I would have gone crazy without my computer in my bed. The computer
caused when the power cord got too hot as it was burning out and it was under
my rear. What is the prediction on how long it will be.

I have never read books on my computer, says there was a post about web
sites for that, that I have not checked out. I hope I can find again on my
computer.

I'll be thinking a you and pray for it to heal as quickly as possible.

[QUAD-L] Check out Mobility Air Transport

2007-03-06 Thread Sirquad
It's about time. I'd be willing to try this. I've always thought it was
against ADA wishes for us to have to get out of our chairs to fly. If the
buses
tried to do that to us, they'd get sued. I wonder what the prices would be
like. In the picture, did they just pick the whole chair up? I would think
they would need a ramp...

[QUAD-L] IMS door problems

2007-03-06 Thread Sirquad

Has anyone with an IMS conversion van have problems with the cargo door not
closing all the way???

I bought a new dodge caravan in 2000. It was shipped off for
modification. After 3 years, the door won't close all the way. They said it
was a
sensor. They fix it and it works for about a year. Every year for the last 4
years, I have his same problem. The door doesn't completely shut. Its
frustrating. The interior lights come on and the door opens up. It's to cold
for
that plus its unsafe. I'm tempted to have them take off there crap and return
the door to stock. It wouldn't be automatic but atleast it closes.
