Hi, I recently acquired a Preforma LC 575, though it seems the hard drive has died because whenever I start it I just get a flashing question mark. If anyone knows where I could I could get a replacement hard drive (I think its a scsi), or has any suggestions to fix my problem, I would really

Thanks for the tips Bill, Unfortunately whenever I try to boot from the 'Install Me First Cd' or the floppies that came with the mac, the message 'Welcome to Macintosh' comes up on the screen and then it freezes. I'm not sure if this is correct but i have been told that if it can not find a hard

It certainly could be the hard drive, but it is not necessarily. The question mark means the system simply cannot find a start up system. Do you have an internal or external CD drive? Start the system with a OS CD, and see if the hard drive mounts. You may just need to reinstall the Operating

The reason I mentioned an external CD drive is often the stock CD drive that came with the LC575 was not fast enough to boot the computer. Also, you would do much better to start it up with a system 8, 8.6, or 9 (not 9.1 or higher) CD than system 7. Even if you eventually reinstall system 7, I
